To the folks here insisting that she’s blond: are you POC by any chance? I have a brunette friend whose hair is light brown who was called blond a lot when she lived in India. Maybe it’s a thing similar to how many white people have trouble judging Asian and Black women's ages.

Agree and I know this may get me roasted but the childlike voice was to me, both surprising and off putting at this level of professional achievement. My tolerance for listening to anyone in that party for longer than 10 seconds has dropped significantly over the past months. It's deadening

No, I agree with you, I’m surprised she hasn’t worked with a voice coach to pitch her voice down a bit. It’s a sad fact thanks to centuries of equating authority with maleness that people tend to accord more respect to women whose voices are lower or less markedly “girlish.”

I suspect Hillary Clinton did this — if you listen to early interviews with her, when she was only being interviewed because she was the wifey, her voice had a higher pitch; she deliberately lowered her “speech giving” and “public” voice to a lower and richer pitch as she became a political figure in her own right.

That's a great point. Yes her voice became richer and deeper as she grew into her political power. Some of this is probably biological too, women's voices drop naturally as they age. I am so conflicted about all of this: On the one hand it feels like an unnecessary and unfair criticism to mention this regarding a professional woman with significant accomplishments on her resume. Like we as women don't have enough to feel bad about. On the other hand, like most things, it matters and many of us would do well professionally to think about our voices and how we speak as it relates to how we are perceived and our credibility as a leader.

WTF. ACB isn’t a politician. She doesn’t need a “voice coach.”

Women are women’s own worst enemies.

But she needs a stylist. Come one, those earrings? Wear a jacket. She looks like she’s running to be on the school board.

That's your opinion and I disagree. Some of us think she would benefit from working with a voice coach. It is not only for politicians btw.

I don't like ACB and I don't want her confirmed, but I agree that discussing her appearance is infantile.

Is there a discussion of how short her skirt was today or is that a separate thread

I don’t like her judicial opinions but she doesn’t need a stylist to be a SC justice. She looks fine. I really liked the dresses she wore yesterday and to the super spreader Rose Garden event. They aren’t the kind of clothing I need for my lifestyle but for professional, tasteful dresses they were very nice and fit her well. If Ivanka dressed like that it would be a miracle. They kind of remind me of the Hobbs of London dresses.

I don't think anyone was suggesting she needed a stylist in her daily role as a justice. We were talking about the hearings, not her overall lifestyle or the rose garden event. Ivanka is also rarely the standard bearer for appropriate dc work attire for most professional women. She comes from reality television. She is an outlier and so far from the reference point of this nominee. I just don't think meeting a more appropriate bar than Ivanka is a particularly useful standard here.

This could be it. I am a POC, and don't understand on what planet she is a brunette. Bleached blonde? No, but she's definitely dirty blonde to me. Kind of mousy, maybe blonde-ish light brown, but a brunette?! Definitely not.

Perspective may color (no pun intended) things, and for a white woman I guess maybe some consider her to have brown her? But to an ethnic person... nope.

I am a African American and her hair looks straight up mousey brown to me.

what is this outfit tho

I like her natural look. She looks athletic. But - what is that outfit?!

I think it's fine. There are better pictures of it. The colors are complimentary. I haven't seen what the skirt looks like. All 3 days of outfits have been hits, from my perspective. I am honestly a little surprised and would have expected dark suits that would not have stood out in any way. I actually appreciate the relative boldness and nod to style.

I think they're only "hits" because they're not epic Ivanka-style misses. They're certainly nothing to swoon over or emulate. But that's fine--she's a judge, not a fashion plate.

Some of you have been upset she hasn’t worn a blazer. So here she is in a blazer and a blouse. What’s wrong with it?
