So realistically, when do you think somewhat normal full time f2f education will resume?

Who says there will be no school in 2020-21 in Montgomery County?

Have you noticed that school this fall is an issue under discussion all over the country?

There will be school this fall. Via distance-learning only.

Remote instruction is not school, it's remote instruction.

We understand what remote instruction is. And if that is what we get - we'll have to deal or move or homeschool or go private. Take you pick.

I prefer a fifth option: school. And I will keep advocating for us - all of us, not just my family - to have this option.

January or February - it would be insane to open schools without a vaccine since it will vastly increase the spread of the virus.

Evidently there are a lot of insane public-health experts, then.

That's fine. Note that I said "if" that's what we get.

NP. Not true about daycares:

Well, yes, when you tell everybody to go about their business as though there weren't covid, and as a result there is a lot of community spread, and nobody takes appropriate precautions including at daycares, then daycares will also have covid.

So let's not do it that way.

This. Those daycare workers didn't wear masks. They could easily infect each other and the kids.

Also, this Texas report gets pulled out over and over because it is the only one out there right now, or one of few. Among millions of kids in Texas daycares alone.

The nuts that want to reopen schools in the midst of a record-breaking pandemic should move to Florida where there are other like-minded nutjobs with a deathwish.

For example, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Washington Post editorial board.

Remote instruction isn't school, Nostradamus.

Yes it is---and that's what will take place in Montgomery County for the upcoming academic year.

You can say it 1,000 times in a row, and that won't make it any more true.

If there are no deaths of kids attending school (even if lots of them get sick) in the fall, then schools will reopen in January. If kids are dying (even a small number), or if illness rates and deaths among adults get so bad that they have to completely close schools then they will likely not reopen until a vaccine is found.

At least 100 grocery store workers have died from covid, but the grocery stores are still open.

As a society we tend to prioritize children's lives over adults. The older the person, the less value we put on their lives. It's unfortunate, but it's just how America tends to be. The death of kids attributed to their attending school will keep enough parents from sending their kids in the spring which will cause all schools to go to disctance learning until a vaccine is created.
