| Do we really need so many DA/ECNL clubs in the area? Is it a bad thing if WS VA goes away? |
| ^^^^If your daughter played for Spirit VA then maybe you would think so!!! |
| Spirit FCV partnership makes no sense for anyone. The guy a posts above is smoking some great stuff though! |
What specific, credible information do you have on this contention? Please share otherwise there’s no indication of what you have said. |

New poster: I have no insider information, but the posts made me check out the GFR website. Why doesn't it mention Spirit anywhere? I find that very curious in light of all these posts.
And that got me thinking: Spirit gets fields from GFR, but I don't see benefit to GFR. I don't know about the U13 pilot team, but none of the other teams have GFR players on them. |
| U13 does have one 07 player who is dual rostered on GF and WS-GF also benefits from being able to practice with the U13 team on Friday nights and have the benefit of DA coaching. The Spirit players can also dual roster to play on the top GF teams. So, it’s not like GF isn’t seeing some benefit from the partnership. |
Look under “travel programs” |
I didn't think full time DA players could do that - in any club? If so, has GFR seen a big influx of players? If so, that they can is one thing, but are they? Again, no insider info. I'm just thinking out loud. Until the poster who brought it up mentions what he knows on it. |
| ^^^This can happen only at U13 since it is a “pilot” program and not at U14 and up. |
In addition to all of the other postings, the U9-U12 GFR TD is a Spirit employee/coach and is there to develop GFR talent for pipeline into the DA club. All Spirit players are registered in the GFR travel system. Quite a few GFR 2006/07 players practice with the 2006 Spirit DA team on Fridays. |
| But, you get an "A' for effort in the FUD department for spreading your rumors! Try to stay off the shrooms. Nothing good comes from it. Really. |
Your post is excessively defensive and hostile. You don't need to feel threatened if people speculate over the potential implications of legitimate news. |
Two years ago the merger made perfect sense to the leadership of 4 very reputable clubs. 1st BRYC 2nd Loudoun and Arlington 3rd FCV All jumped at the opportunity to partner with Spirit. Now it makes no sense? Please explain your hesitation in believing a hand that's already been shown to you? I challenge you to go back to any thread on this board and reexamine any topic related to the age change mandate, those being awarded DA status, mergers, partnerships, etc. There will be a ton of people just like you saying, "that makes no sense". Yet, it happened. That's the beauty of hindsight. You can learn from it....or not....its up to you. Now, I'm not saying that it's going to happen. I'm merely suggesting that one should pay attention and be prepared to make decesions. |
I think you meant "legitimate rumors". But your point stands. |
Issue 1-a club with barely enough field space trying to merge with a club that has essentially zero field space. Issue 2-Spirit has a working relationship with GFR. You have to buy the phony rumor that the relationship has failed for another relationship to make sense. Issue 3-what does FCV gain now that they are established as a solid DA club? Certainly not field space! Sure, they could merge. Lots of crazy things that make little sense happen in this world. No reason to hold your breath over it. We'll know within the next four weeks. I'm not holding my breath for the FCV merger. |
