She looks amazing in jewel tones and simple silhouettes.

I agree!

But is she supposed to wear something lighter colored to an ocassion like this?

So maybe this dress but in a cream color?

That's what a grandma in her 70s should wear!!!!

With the peplum to hide the tummy. (which Kate does not have)

But, see it modeled.

No that is too busy for Kate. She has an amazing body. She doesn't need to disguise anything with peplum.

If I were her, I'd wear simple dresses all the time to show off her figure.

The best thing about the OP's dress is that it is fitted to her body and shows off how skinny it is.

Unfortunately, it is the wrong color for her and has an ugly mermaid skirt.

Maybe the blue dress was her second or third choice. You know those days when your first and second choices just aren’t fitting or working?

Those are pretty, especially the emerald.

She seems to like to show respect to her predecessors through fashion, and often goes with dresses that are similar to ones worn by Diana and the queen depending on her jewelry. This dress is obviously an attempt at that based off that queen picture from earlier in the thread.

Does anyone know if there is a picture of the queen in the full dress? Maybe there was something in that dress that made her go with a mermaid dress.

It could be.

Or perhaps she had this made special for this event, and it did not turn out exactly as she envisioned and could not gracefully go with another choice.

Yikes!

That is a grandma dress!

Very good looks for her! I think she is dealing with the postpartum blues and being tired and worn out caring for little kids.

They're clear as day and she's only 36. It's not common to be aging as fast as she is, especially when you consider how privileged and cosseted she is and how she has access to the best skin care in the world.

I think you are delusional if you think most 35-40 year old women don't have lines.

All of them do, especially the ones with children.

Kate looks her age.

Most women in this age bracket can’t afford expensive Botox, fillers and peels. Kate can do it’s pathetic she has lines.

She is smarter than those women who get botox.

Those botox women end up looking like frozen plastic monsters after a while.

There is zero reason for for a young, 36 year old to inject herself with botox. She is at the prime of her life.

Age gracefully, not like a science experiment.

+1. I literally don't know anyone who dabbles in fillers, Botox, etc. In my circles of professionals with graduate degrees, I imagine it would be seen as a bit of an unusual choice; some would consider it vain. I personally think "oh well" if someone wants to do it, but I don't get the criticism of those who choose not to, even if they're famous. I wonder who these PPs are, what they do for a living, and how they define themselves.

You probably do know some people who dabble. The thing is, you don't really notice good work. A colleague is not going to notice that someone's eye hollows are looking less deep or that their 11s are slightly less mobile when they make an angry face. Unless you're getting botox to lift your brows or filler to give you a Kylie Jenner pout, these small tweaks aren't really obvious.

Wow!!

She looks amazing!

I love her dress and she knows how to wear a crown so she looks truly regal.

Maxima looks great but she is way older and out of the weeds with little kids.

Way older? Are you sure? Oh well. They look roughly the same age in these photos

No they do not.

Kate looks her age.

This queen does as well.

They look about 10 years apart in age.

Are we looking at the same pictures?

Both ladies look about the same age —- but Máxima definitely looks younger than Kate.

I looked it up because I was curious and was shocked that Maxima is 10 years older! She also has kids so it’s ridiculous to say Kate aged faster because she has children.

PP here. We are in academia/researchers. Not common in these circles. In general we're probably seen as a bit of a dowdy bunch, by external standards. Appearance is not emphasized very much by most; intellectual capabilities and productive research careers are.

Why would they tell you if they did? Do you really think you can tell? Newsflash: you can't. Not if someone is doing it well, and not overdoing it. Many people choose not to discuss it because there are those who think as you do.

My sil did it in her late 30s. She looked amazing for a few years. Looked like she was in her 20s, at the time, my age!

But it has worn off and she looks droopier. If she continues now, it may just going to look full and puffy.

I think Kate is wise to wait. And, maybe she wants to show her daughter what aging looks like. There are positives to leaving your face alone. I wouldn’t judge Catherine either way.

No way, maxima looks older. Kate is similar to my age (I’m a little younger). I look closer to Kate’s age, whereas maxima looks like my older friends. The friends who I am thinking of are 8-10 years older.

To point it out on the photo, it’s something about the cheeks as she smiles. And maturity.

Ladies, can we let ladies mature? We don’t all need to be chasing youth!
