MOCO paying illegals layers with our taxes

Vote R. I've been a lifelong democrat as well but the Left has truly gone extreme in recent years. One day I suppose, it just clicked that perhaps the democrats and I needed to part ways.

One old racist woman doesn't speak for a whole county.

It wasn't only one woman... and someone is racist because she doesn't want to pay legal fees for someone who clearly has broken the law?

Nobody has broken a criminal law.

Nope... as I said this is just the camel's nose under the tent. A few years down the line it will be millions spent and every illegal immigrant (to include murderers, rapists, gang members, etc) will be eligible to get tax payer funded lawyers. Insane.

The sky is falling.

None of that is true. We actually deported rapist much faster pre-trump. Now resources are going to deporting cleaning ladies and doctors.

Jeez.....are the liberals still defending law-breakers?

If illegal aliens are committing no crime by virtual of their illegal entry, why then are they subject to criminal action - up to six months in prison? That's quite a penalty for someone who hasn't broken a law!

Disagree. Once you've been deported once you are breaking a criminal law.

And if the initial LAW that is broken is civil, then they done need a taxpayer funded lawyer.

Read the WaPo article. It absolutely says clergy and others were urging council members to go farther and not exclude those with criminal convictions. That would include rapists and murderers.

And I'm sure Mexico, Central American and other countries all across the globe can benefit from having their doctors and cleaning ladies come back home. Make those countries great again!

Illegals have been flooding over the border in droves and you're still posting about "doctors." H-1b visa issues are an entire world away from the uneducated, gang-affiliated crowd coming over the TX-Mexico border. But if you're going to talk about that, sure, let's grant more H-1Bs and deport 100% of the uneducated, non-English speaking resource-suckers.

Did you notice PP moved the goal posts? We are talking of tax payer funded lawyers for convicted criminals and PP pivoted to deporting more rapists previously... but guess what? Rapists are likely still getting deported but now tax payers still pick up the bill before they go! Insane.

Read carefully. Some are advocating for convicted criminals to have access to these funds. And seeing as the council is still formulating what will be voted on, including what crimes to include, it is in fact possible that convicted criminals will be able to access this money.

If CAIR, Casa, UMD Law [complaints about lost discretion under Trump] get public funds we're already supporting these illegals.

Nobody has broken a criminal law.

The next time you fly or drive into the United States try running past the customs agent without stopping and see if you are charged with a crime or if they just give you a ticket. Come back and let us know how it worked out...

EXACTLY. People try to act like its not big deal because illegal immigration is initially classified as a civil offense, but that (purposely) ignores our entire reason behind our visa entry system, security checks, etc. when visiting or immigrating to the country legally. In the same way they are trying to obscure the line between legal and illegal immigration, it is done purposely to confuse facts and gain sympathy from the audience.

Yes. Even the moderator referred to these people as "immigrants peacefully crossing the border," omitting the inconvenient fact that they are violating U.S. law and are technically illegal aliens. If fact, some analysts have said they they are not actually "immigrants" in the true sense of the word, since immigration implies that one followed the country's established process.

Also, as far as it being only a "civil offense," illegal entry is still punishable by up to 6 months in jail.
