EXACTLY. People try to act like its not big deal because illegal immigration is initially classified as a civil offense, but that (purposely) ignores our entire reason behind our visa entry system, security checks, etc. when visiting or immigrating to the country legally. In the same way they are trying to obscure the line between legal and illegal immigration, it is done purposely to confuse facts and gain sympathy from the audience.[/quote]
Yes. Even the moderator referred to these people as "immigrants peacefully crossing the border," omitting the inconvenient fact that they are violating U.S. law and are technically illegal aliens. If fact, some analysts have said they they are not actually "immigrants" in the true sense of the word,  since immigration implies that one followed the country's established process.

Also, as far as it being only a "civil offense," illegal entry is still punishable by up to 6 months in jail. [/quote]
