Anonymous wrote:Has anyone had any response from corporate? It's been enough time now for emails to be read and responded to...

I have not heard anything back. I emailed about a week ago. I REALLY hope someone in corporate (or with decision making authority) reads this thread--it is long, but I think the comments would provide them valuable insight. Anyone have the guts to send the email chain to the Founder? I don't have the guts, but I wish I did.

Someone earlier in the thread said they would send it to a former colleague who worked in corporate. Any update from that PP, if you're still out there?

My studio manager said I could send feedback to her or them, and I purposely sent it there because I figured I would get a standard response from her, i.e., that they are telling all studio managers to say. She's great, but I know this decision was made above her head.

I honestly think going after them on social media might be more effective since it would be public.

Agree. In this day and age social media is where to go!

Anyone have ideas about how best to do this? I'm at a bit of a loss, mostly because anything I would post would probably be way too profane to get a response.

I went to class last night and the sign outside said they have new "accountability" packages, which I guess is how they're marketing them. Sucks for those of us who don't need that kind of accountability.

This class was also the first where I felt like the coach was making it easier to accommodate new people, as PPs had mentioned. If that were my regular experience, I'd be annoyed (even though I love the coach and it was a great class in many ways). Booked the remainder of my 40 pack for May and looking forward to getting destroyed before I have to decide whether to keep at it.

I'd also love to know how to best do this via social media. I prefer not to splash all my limited social media presence where I workout for many reasons (mostly, I'm just not a big "share everything on FB person"), but if there was a targeted way for me to show my concern like a yelp review, online petition, etc (and I thought they would care about it)--I'd definitely do it.

Also, I recently spoke with one of the coaches that tried to assure me they were told the new pricing would make it cheaper in the long run for everyone. I did the math for her (I'm on unlimited) and she was like--"yep, that is NOT good for you".

That is SO lame they were told that. Wow. How disappointing. One of the things I liked about the company was the CEO seemed to have a lot of integrity, and decisions like this undermine that.

I've posted reviews on Yelp before, and received a response from said CEO, so may do that again. I'm reasonably active on social media (and friends with a bunch of my coaches) but also not sure I want to post a big "hey [solidcore], WTF?" on there. Hopefully others will have ideas--this is definitely not my area of expertise.

This is the PP-I agree, but I can't tell if they were directly told this, or if she assumed it based on some other information she was given by managers (or corporate)--I am not really sure what the internal messaging to coaches has been, but I do know her eyes popped when I told her the math related to being on unlimited--she was definitely unaware that it would be such a huge increase in price. FWIW, this coach is awesome and I definitely don't this most of the coaches are told enough about the changes to realize how bad this is for their "regulars".

Does anyone see how to use a gift card on the website? I can't find it. Thanks!

The way this entire thing is being handled, from the pricing to the initial “customer driven” email screams Meg, I forget her last name. She used to run the OT location and teach but quickly got promoted. She is so abrasive and rude, so many regulars couldn’t stand her. Whenever anyone had a concern or request she would just make you feel like a loser and an idiot. I was so happy to see her leave as manager of OT.

16:40: Interesting about the messaging and what coaches/managers may or may not be told. I haven't had the chance to talk about it with my coaches since the change, but am curious to know what they think. I bet my regulars would agree that these changes aren't intended to benefit their frequent fliers.

18:01: I think I know who you mean, but she's not on the corporate page anymore. But I think I remember her from previous times I'd looked to see who the leadership was. It's hard to tell from their different roles if any one person is driving these changes, but, man, were they off the mark in their messaging.

I am pretty sure Meg isn't there any more.

Anonymous wrote:The pricing situation does leave a bad taste in my mouth. Though I also recognize that a large number of people attending these classes in DC are price-insensitive. I see them fancy handbags, ladies.

The pricing change impacts the dedicated price-sensitive frequent fliers the most. I bet that they won't sell as many of those new $$ monthly packages as they did the set class packages. I'm also disappointed that there seems to be this large emphasis on expansion. When you go to the website, the main message is all about expansion and... this feels out of touch to me? I personally don't give a sh*t if they're opening a place in Minnesota, Baltimore, or Indiana. I would much prefer that they remain focused on what they already have by getting the best instructors (paying them well!), maintaining the studios AND not bumping up the rates so darn much in a disingenuous way.

Another interesting layer is with optics. In terms of class composition, I bet that these price-sensitive frequent users elevate the classes. I might be off base, but my game improves when I feel like I'm surrounded by amazingly competent badass folks taking the class. I feel a little deflated when the class is filled with newbies because I've noticed that instructors have recently started to accommodate new client needs over prioritizing challenging instruction. This may just be my experience though!

Agree 100% with the second paragraph. I've noticed this as well.

You know what else irritates me. Every single damn class, the coaches ask "how many classes have you been to?", there is SO much focus on how many classes you've taken, but NO WHERE on the their app, or website is there a place to easily see how many classes you've attended!

If it's such a big deal, then why not make it visible from the app?

I know I've surpassed 100, and probably getting close (if not already passed) 200, but I have no clue how to find out.

Other thing that REALLY annoys me, is how we are asked to wipe down our machines, but then some coaches demo a move using their nasty shoes and don't wipe down the machine after!!! SO GROSS. I'm always hoping the coach doesn't use my machine for a demo.

I have to count mine on the app (under the "My Attendance" tab). I made a big deal of letting my coaches know when I was about to hit 100, so they in turn made a big deal of it (the ones who coached my 99 and 100). I'm still not listed on the 100 club list on the website, which irrationally pisses me off, especially as I close in on 200.

My regular never asks how many we've taken unless it's someone he's never seen before. Usually it's just, if you've taken x classes use this spring, y classes this spring, etc.

So there's no way to redeem gift cards online anymore. What a royal pain. Another way of screwing clients over.

Do you see that on the new website? It looks like it's gone to me.i see it on iPad which still has the old website.

Thanks for raising the 100 class issue. I'm annoyed my name is not on the list too particularly since they make such a big deal about it.

My Attendance? I count on the app. Haven't tried on the website.

I need to tell my studio manager about the 100 club thing. I'm sure she'd put me on, and be very apologetic, especially since she was the one who coached it!

I also asked about the on- vs off-peak thing. Apparently it's a glitch with MBO that you can't select when booking classes. She offered to book the off-peak ones for me. I figured out a workaround, in that I booked up the last of my 40 pack with classes I didn't want, then booked the off-peak classes, then cancelled the ones I didn't want. A pain, but it got the job done. I will probably end up getting a 12 pack/month and then supplementing with off-peak if I want.

Do you keep a running total yourself? My app only goes back a few months. Used to go back 6 months.

Mine too. I was thinking it wouldn't be too difficult to look at "my account" on the app and it shows purchases, and how many classes remaining. I thought I could add up all my purchases and deduct any remaining classes, but mine only goes back 6 months.

Why not create a tab that tracks the number of classes and throws confetti when you reach milestones?! Would be such a simple touch....I mean, hey, we pay enough.
Anonymous
This is 15:27-my app goes back a year. I know when I hit 150 and count from there.

It is annoying though and I agree we pay enough for it to keep track of attendance and let us know. Hell, it should send our studio managers an alert when we near those milestones. We do pay enough.
