I'll be satisfied when we start talking about the radicalization of young Christian men with the same urgency that we look at radicalization of young Muslim men.

What on earth makes you think he is Christian? He doesn’t sound Christian at all.

Process of elimination. Not a lot of Jewish or Muslim white supremacists.

In a picture that was found of him and the daughter he is wearing a cross. It's on Fairfax Underground.

I believe that photo is not really them. The girl is definitely not her once you see the full photo.

That photo is them. Pictures from her Facebook account have circulated and it is her. And that is him. If the picture you have seen shows them both with their hands near their mouth, he is wearing a black shirt that reads in German “my honor is my loyalty/ my honor is called loyalty” (Meine Erne heiBt Treue) with a nazi symbol. This is pretty f-ed up. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meine_Ehre_heißt_Treue

Reston? Where is that?

I have a gut feeling that when the full story comes out, it will turn out the daughter was complicit in this.

The parents were killed, and the dog was taken to animal care and the surviving kids to foster care.

Why would the kids go to foster care when there were grandparents there? How do you know this?

Hatred for the step-father and the new half brother who pushed her out of the limelight. Classic conditions for at least cutting if not murder.

Why would surviving kids be taken to foster care when the grandparents were there at the time of the shooting and uninjured? I would think that the boy would be released to the grandparents. That makes no sense to traumatize the child even worse. Is that really accurate PP? How do you know this?

If you have enough personal knowledge of the family to know this, I assume you can also tell us where these teens went to school?

Really? You've got to bring your elitism into this thread?

Sounds more like ignorance than elitism, considering the SES of the average Reston resident. Many DCUM posters aren't from the DC metro area.

This is a terrible, horrific situation. What the hell difference does it make which school these kids went to? It's not like the school had any control over what these kids did on their off hours.

The girl was in her own home with extended family visiting and Christmas presents under the tree when this happened. What safer place could she have been? What exactly more were those parents supposed to do to safeguard themselves and their family?

None of this makes a damned bit of sense which usually points to some sort of severe mental/emotional problems on the part of the person who did this. At this point, it's not even clear on what his condition is.

I'm not one of the folks clamoring to know the school, but I think the school thing is relevant because this kid was an open white supremacists and Nazi sympathizer. One would hope that the school, any school, would not welcome kids with those kids of belief systems.

The Washington Post article said his social media accounts proclaiming racist statements were under a pseudonym, so it’s likely the school didn't know.
