Shooting in Reston

It's amazing that your kid could make a really stupid choice in a significant other and it could lead to this.

Why hasn't the name of the school be release and was this kid commuting all the way from Lorton or was it boarding?

There is a public 'reform' school in the Reston area - perhaps that's what they meant?

It said they met at a private school.

So, I guess we all need to own guns on the slim chance that our teenagers might make a fatal mistake in who they choose to date? Sorry, THAT sounds paranoid.

The thought that someone as kind/upstanding/smart as Scott would die at the age of 48 due to gun violence is so absurd. His poor son is now orphaned. What a horrible, horrible thing.

Yes, they both truly were good people. My heart breaks for the daughter too. Can you imagine living knowing your own stupid choice as a teenager (when the brain is not fully developed and plenty of people make stupid choices) could have led to this? What about the adult son? My heart breaks for all 3 and for the grandparents. I have become obsessed with this story and it makes me sick.

I agree. He was a super nice, smart guy. I knew him professionally.

Does anyone know the Race or Religion of the shooter?

Why does that matter? Clearly he was deranged.

Breitbart, which POTUS thinks is a good news source, used to think that was important to note.

The WaPo has a clear agenda with its reporting anyeay, including with this story. Buckley Kuhn-Fricker’s facebook page shows her as a clear liberal and Hillary supporter, which is fine, but if she supported Trump in no way would be be painted in a positive light.

It is truly horrible what happened to them, but the article politicizes to the nth degree. Even Trump supporters I kmow would never allow relationships with a neoNazi.

+1

I'm very sorry what happened to this couple and their kids.

But, I'm also weary of news agencies labeling a 17 year old a Nazi. Really? He's not old enough to vote, but he is old enough to be labelled a NEO NAZI for life?

Also, get ready for the Washington Compost to do several more articles relating to this crime. If the family were Trump supporters, there would barely be a blip.

I simply can't believe you are bringing Trump into this? Those poor parents, who were obviously so right to separate their daughter from a neoNazi?! What is wrong with you?

White and Christian...he's a 17-year-old Neo Nazi, what else would you expect?

Being good parents, yes. Being heroes? Dial it back.

2 people died. If the post wants to cast them in a positive light let them. By all accounts these were wonderful people and kudos to them for not wanting hatred in their home. Let it go. Get over semantics. May these people rest in peace and may this kid and his hatred rot in jail if he can't be rehabilitated into a decent human. I want to know who indoctrinated him into hatred and what circumstances made him this way.

If they wanted to keep the daughter away from a drug user, they would be good parents not heroes. Stop negating the power of words by misusing them
