The Menendez Brothers

Spoiled, entitled rich kids. They should rot in prison. They killed both their parents. Period.

Occum’s razor — they were pushed to the edge by abuse? Or so spoiled they shot their parents multiple times at close range with a shotgun? I’m not saying they aren’t sociopaths; I’m saying even if they are it is highly unlikely they’d kill because they are spoiled.

They didn’t seem particularly remorseful. Spending money and having a good old time on their ill gotten gains.

What does that have to do with anything? They should feel remorse for having killed the people who made their life hell?

And they spent a bunch of money? So what, everyone in Beverly Hills spends a bunch of money.

It’s not ok to kill people and spend their money. Even Gypsy Rose Blanchard got 10 years and she didn’t even murder her mom herself. Not sure what kind of lenience people think the Menendez brothers would get for their crime. You can’t just kill people who did you wrong.

They’ve already served 30 years. Don’t act like a punishment has not already been handed out.

They killed their parents. They are not judge and jury.

30 years is not enough.

If it was your daughter/son or sister/brother they killed, would you want them out? No.

It’s plenty of time and they have spent closer to 35 years than 30 years in prison. People who have done far worse than taking out scum like their parents have spent less time in prison.

But it is the relatives of the deceased (all related) who have been speaking up on their behalf for a new trial or release.

Any new ideas on this, ladies?
I was a teen when this all went down and I remember the years of Menendez Brothers in our vernacular.

Here's what I don't get: their second trial, the one that resulted in a conviction; that judge did not allow in evidence the many neighbors teatimony about possible abuse. Why?

b/c they weren't abused. They were spoiled sociopaths who wanted their inheritance. I think they enjoy the attention b/c they are probably bored in jail. I don't really care enough to watch or go in depth in any re-hashings of the case. Let them rot.

Disclosure: I have not watched it.

I remember back when the crime first broke and the coverage back then. They always looked so creepy to me. They had a history of burglaries and other crimes.

They very much premeditated it and planned it out for a long time. They really blew their mom apart---so many more shots.

Kim Kardashian is helping them. I find it all so weird.

It depends on the wrong. If I found out somebody was sexually abusing my young children, yeah i would kill him or her to ensure that person doesn’t live long enough to sexually abuse another child, maybe yours. Women sexually abuse children as well.

Which law says it’s ok to blow your parents’ heads off because they did you wrong?

Go to law school. You will find the answer there. I have neither the time nor inclination to explain criminal law to you.

Oh, I'm sure you spend plenty of time helping criminals get reduced sentences and have far less concern for their victims.

What an ignorant viewpoint - thank god most of society has moved on from such contextless compassionless blanket judgements ..,

Maybe fast easy Deaths are not enough for fathers who sexually, psychologically and emotionally abuse their sons and mothers who hide/ enable the abuse. Life time sentences in maximum security jails would have been better for them.

Well, they are serving time for the crime of blowing their heads off. Maybe you should go back to law school?

Anonymous wrote:There was a case a few years back in Texas where a father came upon a man raping his little girl in a barn at some kind of function on the family’s ranch. I cannot recall the relationship of the rapist to the family, but in any case the father killed him on the spot. No charges were brought by the local county attorney, because he probably wanted to get re-elected for another term.

Most of us would understand the compulsion to snuff somebody we happened upon raping our child.

Surely we must all have some capacity to conceive the mind of a child raped for decades, a child living in terror of his parents - a young man who is still basically a child because his emotional development has been stunted by the trauma of being anally raped by his father on a regular basis and knowing mommy knows and doesn’t care - who is being told by those parents that he cannot go to school and live on campus, he has to keep living at home with mommy and daddy.

How was it not self defense for Erik to kill his rapist and the rapist’s enabler? How was it not defense of others for Lyle to kill them alongside his raped little brother?

C’mon people. This is not rocket science. These guys have served enough time for the snuffing out of two loathesome human beings.

In the Texas case the father called 911 and expressed remorse for the killing. Different facts

So abusers, rapists, and murderers should be sentenced leniently if they were abused as children?
