They must have been so hopeful that they would be freed now but now they know their fate at least for the next eighteen months.

Agree. The parole board made the correct decision. When Lyle stated his mother sexually abused him too, out of the blue in the latest hearing, that made me question whether anything those two have ever said was true. He clearly fabricated a new response to the question that sunk Erik--why savagely murder their mother too? They are serial liars and psychopaths. I hope they never get out.

I live right across the street from the Big 5 store in San Diego where the two purchased their rifles used to kill their parents.

The store is actually still in business today.

If they truly were fearful that their father planned on killing them that fateful night all they had to do was not return home.

I also thought this.
When I heard that Lyle was now alleging abuse from his mother as well I started wondering if all the abuse allegations re: their dad were even true.

It seems these two are always pulling stories out of thin air whenever they are desperate and need to elicit sympathy to get what they want.
I think Lyle’s accusation against his mom was a last ditch attempt at seeking freedom - he hoped his accusation would set him apart from Erik.

Nice try, but the parole board obviously was not so easily swayed.

I hope in a year and a half if and when the board hears their pleas again, they stick to their guns (no pun intended) and keep these two self professed murderers locked up for the rest of their lives.

I never remember this being a barrier to why their abuse allegations did not exonerate them at the time.

I think the problem that people had w/the abuse allegations were that there just wasn’t enough solid proof to justify the brutal crime that was committed by them.

Even now, I do not think there is solid evidence that they were abused even though I am not ruling it out.
In order for these men to be released into society after such a heinous murder there would need to be substantial proof of abuse to even justify their release.

If these two individuals were truly abused at home, then why did they claim self-defense?
Adding in this element only takes the case in a completely different direction when these brothers now claim that they feared for their own lives.

The DA that advocated for their release lost the election.
Personally I think him advocating for the Menendez brothers to be set free cost him the election.
Kim Kardashian also advocated for them too, she had publicly stated that she believed they should have been released due to the abuse they suffered.
After both brothers were denied parole I expected her to criticize the decision but she hasn’t said anything so I wonder if she still is on their side.

You have a faulty memory. The prosecutors in the case said on the record in court that men cannot be raped.

“During the trial, a prosecutor told jurors, "Men cannot be raped since they lack the necessary equipment to actually be raped.”

DA Gascon commented on that when the case rose into public consciousness again in the last few years.
