Maybe the mom in question has a convertible car seat though, now that I think about it. While I find sleeping-baby-in-bucket to be worth the extra investment in getting infant seat for the first year + convertible seat thereafter, not everyone can afford that luxury.
^^ Or maybe the baby wakes up when moved even in the carseat. Or maybe she had a c-section and is trying not to lift the carseat more than she needs to. |
The snap and go infant seats can also just be carried if you can't use a stroller. Or you can just pick the sleeping baby up and go into the center. It's the same thing you do when you go grocery shopping, to the library, the dry cleaners.... This isn't complicated, it isn't about money. It really isn't that hard. We all know why the mother is leaving her baby in the running car - it is for convenience. Nothing more, nothing less. |
99% of parents are capable of determining what is reasonable with regards to their children. As for the 1% that is not, well, not much you can do about it. |
| I'm pretty lax about this stuff, but it's never okay to leave a baby in a car alone. Tell the daycare, OP. Mom needs to suck it up with nap schedules like we all do. Get a snap n go or something. |
|
OP, you're an a** !
If you don't want to help this mother, MYOB! |
I'm the PP you're responding to. I can see having those reactions, I guess. But then I'd also be bummed that I consider other parents, at the center where my kid spends more time than at home, strangers. Maybe OP's first step should be introducing herself to the "offending" mom, rather than judging from afar. |

Would any of you leave a $1 million diamond necklace in plain view in your vehicle, and then leave your vehicle out in public?
No. No, you would not. Ask yourself why you would be more careful with a piece of jewelry than with your child. |
For two minutes at a daycare center, sure. |
The jewelry probably has a higher resale value than some random used kid. |
Ha. I was thinking the same thing. No one dealing with getting small children in/out of a daycare center is going to be noticing the bling laying around in my car. |
This! Nobody wants a random baby.
|
| I hope you are not my neighbor or live near me, Op. I am sure you would report me for putting my stroller on my step just outside my door, bringing kid A out and setting them in the stroller, and then leaving for two seconds to bring kid B out and setting them in the stroller, and then leaving for two seconds to get the last minute thing I forgot, and then turning my back to lock the door. I actually worry about nutbags like you who would actually sit and time me and not offer to help! |
What a terrible analogy. I wouldn't leave a $1 million diamond necklace in a crib at night either. Nor would I take my $1 million necklace anywhere on a regular basis. I guess you don't drive your kid anywhere and lock them in a vault at night? Fail. |
Right? No one's going to steal anything (baby or not) from a daycare parking lot with a bunch of people milling about. I could see the concern if the car was parked in a deserted corner of a huge supermarket parking lot. Not a busy daycare! |
And you know what? If anyone did that when my kids were small it flew right over my head. I had no time to notice or bother with people like that, nor did I want their "help". Good grief. |
