| She came across really well in that article. Very intelligent. |
Yes, he was the one in power and older and supposedly more mature. The despicable part is that he only went for what he could get and then referred to her as "that woman." He didn't care about her at all. |
she came on to HIM first, at least based on what I remember of the starr report |
Of all the people, why Linda Tripp? I mean, really...she had no other girlfriends to gossip with? That part just has never made any damn sense to me. |
She gave the dress to Tripp for safe keeping. Tripp in turn tricked her and started the whole ML outing. |
Twenty-two is old enough to smoke, drink, vote, go to war, graduate with a MBA, fuck, marry, and have babies. |
It doesn't matter. If she was behaving inappropriately he should have asked his staff to get him another intern. My guess is that he was giving her inappropriate signals or she never would have flashed her thong at him or whatever it is she did. The details don't matter. It was up to the POTUS to remain dignified and professional around his staff - and Bill was anything but professional when it came to Lewinsky. The whole thing was so ridiculous that I think lots of people really believed Bill when he said nothing happened and Monica was portrayed as a love struck stalker. |
And it is entirely too young to be torn apart and shredded by the POTUS machine. |
I wasn't privy to anything like that. My internship was in an office in the OEOB, but I did get to go into the actual white house a couple times daily. I interned summer of 1997, a few months before the scandal broke. But Monica was there in '95, IIRC - During the big gov't shutdown and the interns were running the place. As for if I ever met Bill, I met him VERY briefly and not alone - I was with my supervisor onsite at a hotel fundraiser. Other than that, I literally almost ran into him one day as he was entering the OEOB for a meeting and I was arriving to the office just up the hall from the entrance directly from the West Wing. It was a hello and excuse me moment - that's it. Plus, he was surrounded by Secret Service whenever I saw him. Being a White House intern was a great experience - it makes me so sad that it is a punchline thanks to this mess. I also had no interest in him - the hot Marines who stood outside the Oval whenever he was in town, though? ME-OW! |
| I wonder if she is voting for Hillary... |
Isn't it called standing by your man? If she did not do it, you probably will argue the other way. |
I do understand what you are saying - maybe he was giving her "signals", who knows? But as far as we know, the first official move was the thong show. Now, what he did with that was totally wrong and he absolutely should have had more dignity, professionalism, whatever. He's gross and TOTALLY in the wrong, no doubt. But, his staff was furloughed and the interns were running the joint. It was a recipe for disaster considering his history. |
That is why I am not sympathetic to her. Seems so calculating and gross. |
I guess she can still vote here, but doesn't she live overseas now? |
Yeah, those marines would have been more along the lines of what I would have been going for at that age for sure
I grew up in the DC area and I remember how government intern jobs - especially the White House - were highly coveted and responsible positions to get. It is a shame that those White House intern jobs now come with this joke attached. |
