Monica Lewinsky - a ton of surgery, right?

I really enjoyed her TED talk and I had my DD watch it:

I think she looks really pretty. I wish her emojis were available on iPhones.

I remember thinking at the time that she was a total dumbass, but I do feel bad that one lapse in judgment had to follow her for the rest of her life. Too bad she confided in someone with an ax to grind; she could have kept things secret, had a normal career and written a killer tell-all much later in life.

(and yeah, I think Clinton f'ed up. Bigtime. Bigger error in judgment. abuse of power. But they were both adults, so her judgment was an issue too.)

Aside from hooking up with a married person being not-so-great, what did she do wrong, exactly?

So, the takeaway from this article for you is to bash Monica's face on an anonymous forum. Maybe we should focus on this:

[After stating how the feminists let Monica free fall and wondering if the same would happen today.]

"Either way, misogyny is still thriving. When the Guardian began researching the online harassment of its own writers, they discovered something bleak: of the 10 contributors who receive the most abuse in the comment threads, eight are women – five white, three non-white – and the other two are black men. Overall, women Guardian writers get more abuse than men, regardless of what they write about, but especially when they write about rape and feminism. I noticed something similar during my two years interviewing publicly shamed people. When a man is shamed, it’s usually, “I’m going to get you fired.” When a woman is shamed it’s, “I’m going to rape you and get you fired.”

And we wonder how, as women, we are often our own enemies.

Makeup and weightloss. Similar thing happened to me when I lost weight.

And I echo the comments about feeling for her. She was a young woman who did dumb things, and didn't deserve to pay the rest of her life for it.

I hope she's able to be happy and live without the insane scrutiny decades ago.

She has lost a lot of weight and this will change the shape of her face. She is still a very pretty woman. The interview was spectacularly good. I am happy that she has found a purpose for her life and I wish her success, happiness, and peace.

I saw her in person back when the scandal broke. I think she just lost weight, that's all.

Thank you for posting this! I hadn't seen it. She's actually a pretty great speaker, and I'm in awe of her resilience. Good for her. Shame on those who so needlessly bullied her.

She looks natural and I love that black jacket she has.

She looks great. I always felt bad for her after what she went through in the media.

If hooking up with a married person isn't enough (IMHO, it is), hooking up with your boss is also a significant lapse in judgment -- more so when your boss is in a position that receives a lot of scrutiny.

(Should've indicated, NP here, not the PP you were quoting!)

When I think back to the stupidest thing I did in my 20s, and then imagine that thing being recorded and disseminated throughout the world, becoming infamous for it, that mistake following me for the rest of my days, it makes me sick. She's a brave lady and I admire her for what she's made of her life in spite of it all.
