Monica Lewinsky - a ton of surgery, right?

Anonymous
The recent photos of her seem to suggest that she's had a BUNCH of surgery. Her face isn't even the same shape anymore. Did she have bones removed or something?

Maybe. Or she might have just lost weight.

I don't see surgery. Make up.

Who cares? As she has said many times, one of the worst things is being a continuing object of fascination by train wreck watchers.

Leave her be.

What? She lost weight and aged 20+ years. I think that covers it. Bones removed--wachoo smokin'?

Wow, she looks different! I don't necessarily think she's had a ton of work. More like lost weight, gotten older, and the usual botox etc.

When she's participating in a media story she becomes public figure and you don't have to "leave her be." She posed for photos. If it was supposed to be a thought piece then next time skip the photo shoot and get your story run in the New Yorker.

You are missing the point of her anti-online bullying message. By a lot.

I always feel so sorry about what the Clintons did to her.

That's a great article.

"The same words tend to come up again and again when I’ve asked shamed people to describe the most tumultuous aspects of the experience. One of those words is “objectification”. Being shamed feels like being a victim of identity theft. One minute you’re a private individual, working out who you are, your likes and dislikes. The next minute, you’re America’s premier blowjob queen.

The writer Mike Daisey described this sensation to me in a chillingly perceptive way. (He’d been publicly shamed for embellishing the facts of a story about visiting Apple manufacturing plants in China.) “What they want is for me to die,” he said. “They will never say this because it’s too histrionic. But they never want to hear from me again, and while they’re never hearing from me, they have the right to use me as a cultural reference point whenever it services their ends. That’s how it would work out best for them.”

Lewinsky lets out a long sigh of recognition when I quote this to her. “Wow,” she says.

“Mike Daisey carried on,” I say. “He said, ‘I’d never had the opportunity to be the object of hate before. The hard part isn’t the hate. It’s the object.’”

I wonder if she had work done on her teeth/jaw. Her face does look different.

looks like she lost the puppy fat a lot of women have in their early 20's. She was cute before, but she looks really good now.

I remember thinking at the time that she was a total dumbass, but I do feel bad that one lapse in judgment had to follow her for the rest of her life. Too bad she confided in someone with an ax to grind; she could have kept things secret, had a normal career and written a killer tell-all much later in life.

(and yeah, I think Clinton f'ed up. Bigtime. Bigger error in judgment. abuse of power. But they were both adults, so her judgment was an issue too.)
