Monica Lewinsky - a ton of surgery, right?

this a hundred times over. Most of us even well into adulthood wouldn't be able to handle that level of intense scrutiny. I can't imagine and kudos to her for picking up the pieces and succumbing to suicide or depression. If she'd blown a random coworker or if she'd kept her yap shut none of this would have happened.

Am I the only one who didn't do anything stupid in her 20's? When I think back, the big things that happened, were: I moved out of my parents house, I dumped a friend for being insensitive about 9/11, I broke up with a boy who wanted to get married while I didn't feel ready yet, I got someone fired (he deserved it, but I still feel bad), and I moved across the country from family. None of these were bad choices.

I know! Same here. I worked hard, studied hard, got by in a new adult life on my own and dated unmarried guys my own age. I don't hate the woman or anything, but no we don't all do stuff that dumb.

She's a freaking piece of trash and I don't feel sorry for her at all. Do you really think she didn't know what she was doing was wrong? Seriously?

You sound like a bitter old hag who is still blaming her XH's infidelities on "the other woman" rather than facing the realities of her dysfunctional marriage.

She was very young and while what she did was "wrong" it was relatively benign and certainly not cause for ruining her entire life.

PP here-no, you're way off base. I don't have an ex-husband and have been married 21 years, with no infidelities I'm aware of. You make ridiculous assumptions that I don't think Bill Clinton's trash because I also think Monica's a piece of trash. This thread was about Monica, not Bill Clinton. I have no sympathy for her. If she wasn't smart enough to understand that fucking around with the married POTUS wouldn't end in a shit storm for her if they were caught, then she was exceptionally stupid.

By some of the posters' standards here, being young means that apparently a person can do anything and it's ok. Should we let all of the people who committed their crimes before the age of 25 out of jail since they were young, too? Seriously, it's sad that people don't hold others and themselves to a higher standard. Do you really think Monica didn't know what she was doing wrong? Would you not know it's wrong to have sexual relations with the married POTUS, even if he was taking his dick out and putting it in your face? I can tell you, I would have known that was wrong and I wouldn't have done it. She's an embarrassment to young women all over the place keeping their panties on and earning their place in the world.

She used poor judgement. Not atypical for that age. It was a mistake, but worthy of destroying her life? Nope.

You seem WAY angry at her, calling her "trash", etc. Your over-the-top, unsympathetic reaction says a lot about you.

No, I'm not angry, just calling it like I see it and what that says about me is that I have higher standards for conduct than lots of other people here. Maybe she should have learned not to fuck married men when she had the affair with her married teacher before and during her affair with Clinton. How many times do you get to do that and still get a pass for being "young?" I'm 45 and have never fucked a married man. While we at it, what, exactly, does your judgment of me say about you, lol? Here's some reading about poor Monica: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/stories/drama012898.htm

Bill visits pedophile island now. The interns are too old.

+1000. This is why I have such ambivalence about supporting Hillary.

Yes, she made poor decisions. Very poor decisions. I wanted to smack her for the dumbass decisions she made at the time. But I don't think she truly thought it would totally ruin her life.

No, like most women who sleep with their boss, she thought it would get her a promotional boost. Perhaps her true intent was to sleep her way to the top.
Hillary would not be running for president if it was not for being Bills wife.
She would not have got that far politically on her own.

Having a private family server and a crime foundation helps too

Are you really trying to compare women who marry their equals in college to women who lay on their backs and sleep their way up the career ladder?

maybe. Hillary would not have gotten a job in congress/white house if she was not married to Bill.
I suppose
so, yes.

I don't know that I truly believe that. She is a VERY driven person. She would have found another way to make it to Washington. Hard to say since we don't actually get to do a sliding doors scenario on her life.

I remember thinking at the time that she was a total dumbass, but I do feel bad that one lapse in judgment had to follow her for the rest of her life. Too bad she confided in someone with an ax to grind; she could have kept things secret, had a normal career and written a killer tell-all much later in life.

(and yeah, I think Clinton f'ed up. Bigtime. Bigger error in judgment. abuse of power. But they were both adults, so her judgment was an issue too.)

Aside from hooking up with a married person being not-so-great, what did she do wrong, exactly?

If hooking up with a married person isn't enough (IMHO, it is), hooking up with your boss is also a significant lapse in judgment -- more so when your boss is in a position that receives a lot of scrutiny.

Excuse me? She may have been over 18, but she was a child. Set aside for a moment that he was the President of the United States. If he had been a 50 year old CEO and she had been an intern at his company, would you feel the same way? Would you blame the intern for sleeping with a man who had that much power over her? Further, before she talked, she lost her job (they shuffled her off to another agency) because she slept with Clinton. I remember Senator Boxer ranting on the Senate floor about a Republican who had an affair, saying that "There is no such thing as a consensual relationship" between a boss and their employee. However, when it was a Democratic POTUS and a girl that was barely of age, it was suddenly all the girl's fault.

I thought we already covered the fact that both Clinton AND Lewinsky were lacking in judgment. GMAFB, she was NOT a child, but a full-grown adult who should have known better. Children don't fuck their bosses and teachers. Unless one of the posters here is actually Barbara Boxer, who cares what she had to say about anything?

Clinton was a idiot. While he was sodomizing an intern , Osama Bin Laden was putting the finishing touches on 911.

SMGDH

Except, he actually was trying to get Bin Laden. In the way that was the best at the time. I wish people would remember how different things were then. Do you really think anyone would have approved of a full scale attack? Shit, he did attempt to get the guy while all this crap was going on and the public accused him of deflection.

Of course, then the Bushies took over and basically ignored it or whatever the hell they were doing with their thumbs up their asses....

Sriously, STFU blaming Bin Laden on this.

Oh, and remember who actually got him in the end?

Uh huh. Now, run along, idiot.

Bin Laden was a serious person planning a serious attack during a period when Clinton was consumed with covering up sodomizing an intern in the Oval Office . Clinton did not have his eye on the ball and handed off a piss poor intelligence team . His CIA choice that guaranteed weapons of mass destruction was inherited by Bush .

Uh huh. Now, run along, idiot.

+1

Clinton handed off a fully developed and operational 911 attack. A dot com bust recession . And a piss poor intelligence operation. But he was sure good at sodomizing interns in the Oval Office and having the White House press release slander that the intern was a "stalker".

I somewhat agree that she got the short end here but you're going too far by calling her a child. If a 22 year old murdered a loved one, would you be as compassionate and call that person a child?
