This is a horrific story when one reads the timeline those children were let down by every single so called adult

Any remaining children should have been removed from the dads care. Grandma and grandpa unfit as well.

The court ordered she not be alone with those kids shame on all of them

No. The dad made sure she was never alone with the kids. Her father lied and let her take the kids alone.

My understanding was that it was advised but not court ordered. She had been receiving outpatient care for a year and seemed to be doing reasonably well, and apparently had never threatened the children. The concern was more stability of care rather than harm per se.

From what I've read it can actually be difficult to know when a paranoid schizophrenic is delusional. They can speak normally and seem normal but don't always articulate their delusions unless pressed. I can see that her poor family, after dealing with this for years with little to no support, was doing the best they can and may have gotten a little complacent. The dad had to work, what else was he supposed to do? Her father was trying to help but a lapse in judgment began the spiral of this tragedy. Hindsight is 20/20. But she could easily have sneaked out in the middle of the night anyway, like she did with the middle child. No one could have prevented that. It is a horrifying tragedy and beyond cruel to blame an ill-supported family clearly doing their best to lend support.

What evidence is there that her father lied? He admitted his mistake in letting her take the care "to get pizza" and believed her that the youngest child was with a friend, drove her and the other kids home and stayed with them. She left the house sometime in the middle of the night with the second child, while her father and the kids' dad were both asleep. Then she came back for the third child the next morning. She was psychotic and systematically executing her delusional plan.

Nobody but Catherine Hoggle killed those children. Blaming family members who were trying their best to manage the situation is not helpful. I'm guessing that you have never had to deal with an adult family member with serious mental illness. It is easy to judge. Spend your time praying you are never in the position to have to provide support for seriously mental ill adult.

Agree with the PPs sympathetic to the family. This country does not provide the wraparound social services families like this desperately need.

I don't know anything about this case other than what I've read on DCUM and the brief press conferences, but if anyone else in the family did something, or a neighbor or handyman even, the mentally ill mother is an easy person to blame.

He told the father of the children he would not leave her alone and he lied because he knew he would and she knew he would. He’s s narcissistic a-hole. (I suspect you are his daughter but you know it’s true)

She did not take the 2 murdered child at night.

If you read the police report you will see there is tons of evidence but the bodies were destroyed before they could get them.

So yes there is evidence… phone records, and video from stores, and witness testimony… there is a ton of evidence… but she’s malingering and they can’t take it to trial yet.
