WES Head of School resigns

The chair, an alum from the first graduating class of WES I might add, has been nothing but accommodating in meeting with faculty, staff and parents and is very thoughtful about the direction of the school. If you doubt the leadership of the WES board, you should have a conversation with the chair and see for yourself rather than posting negative comments on a blog. Time is better spent giving your kid a hug rather than posting here, I promise...

Then why are you posting here? Keep your sanctimonious nonsense to yourself, please.

Of course this correct. Most parents who on boards are chosen because of their wealth, not their knowledge.

WES should consider merging the school with a partner who needs additional campus space.

This thread is very repetitive. Why should WES consider merging with another school? Contrary to the various posts, which I suspect are originating from outside of WES family the parents and children at WES are happy and do not want change. Perhaps a NAIS parent satisfaction survey in which the distinctiveness of the respondents are identified in an anonymous manner could help.

By the way, composition of the Board is not necessarily the most important determinant of Board success or is not necessarily related to better governance. The school is founded in 1986 and many alumni are also current parents. You will need more years to find alumni working at the Board but who are not current parents. Claims of Board performance failure should be based on solid data on measurable operations rather than hearsay.

What is the evidence that the Board has failed? Why should "outside professionals" who are fixed term and have no attachment to WES, have longer horizon than the current Board when making decisions?

I would at best be agnostic to above.

I could not be happier about having my child at WES. Having a great experience and the teachers have been phenomenal. Sure, there is an upcoming head of school transition but the head does not define what this school is all about which is a great family feel and great education for the students. The school takes the time to know you and your child. It's much more than I can say about the school where we were before.

Community forum should be very interesting. Wonder if they will discuss third grade.

PP: why don't you attend and raise it yourself, if there is an issue?

Third grade has always been broken and now 4th has a problem!

What about the just fired teacher? Any reason given?

Are any other grades problematic besides 3rd and 4th?

4th grade has two amazing teachers, I have no idea what 13:20 is talking about.

13:20 is talking about the fact that fourth grade has one wonderful teacher and one awful teacher who is constantly screaming at the kids, is downright mean and very disliked by the rest of the faculty. As all fourth graders cycle through three different teachers for math and language arts you obviously do not have a fourth grader or you would know this.

What about the teacher who left right at spring break???
