Which "celebrities" have you met who look great/awful in person?

Some of these descriptions... I really wonder if some of the sightings are in error, especially the plain looking/acting/dressing ones. Like Vanessa Williams- there are a lot of raggedy 'almost Vanessa Williams- looking 'women that I've seen, but I've never REALLy thought it was her.

My DH looks and sounds like someone famous to the point where people take their photo with him all the time and want his signature even when he tells them he's not him.

Funny. I remember reading an article where Matt Damon said he and Mark Wahlberg are contstantly mistaken for each other when they're out. He joked that they have an understanding that they'll both be nice to people who think they're the other person, rather than ruin each other's reputation. Not sure if that also covers showering and cleaning themselves up to look hot before they dash out for coffee in the morning . . . .

Daniel Day Lewis: Extremely tall and intense. He had this odd long legged stride (which I knew because we were basically stuck next to each other while trying to navigate Times Square on a Saturday night) that looked almost...I don't know- stork like? I heard someone around me say 'oh my god, that's..' and he managed to power walk out of the clump of people. Gorgeous eyes.

I'm really curious how so many of you have encountered so many celebrities! Maybe I'm just oblivious when I'm out and about.

I did see Jay-Z and Beyonce at a restaurant in Brooklyn about 5 years ago. Just eating pizza with a group of friends like it was NBD. He is tall and she is STRIKING.

Judge Judy. Stunning lady. Tiny.

Matt Damon--super nice, very short

Brendan Fraser--polite

Keanu Reeves--looked great, really is tall (6'2" or 3")

I think you couldn't go into a Starbucks in the 90s without tripping over Stephanapoulos.

Saw Mark Warner on the street in Old Town between the Governorship and the Senate and he is strikingly handsome.

I love her! You are lucky. I can't think of many celebs I want to meet but she is one. I LOVE Wonder Woman!!

NP. I also saw her -- at the Bethesda Landmark cinema -- and couldn't place her until several hours later. (But Wonder Woman was a bit before my time.)

I saw her at a McCormick years ago. Agree very pretty in person.

Renee Russo on a plane - didn't recognize her at first, just looked like an average Jane, though very well dressed.

I sat across from Lynda Carter and Robert Altman on a plane back in the early 90s (pre-kid days when I always flew first class as a frequent business traveler). It was around the height of Altman's legal troubles, and I could see them tensing up when it was clear I was recognizing him as well as her. But then they relaxed and became chatty when I noted how fond I was of his mother, Sophie Altman, who was quite a character as producer of "It's Academic," which I was lucky enough to play for several years. Yes, Carter is a striking beauty.

Great thread, OP! I'm a busy Mom, but have made it my absolute business come back here and there so I could get to the most recent page.

Thank you!

P.S.
Spike Lee - Short, but really, really cool and real.

John Walsh (hosted of the no-longer running show America's Most Wanted) - super nice and friendly

Dave Matthews waiting for a flight to a Dead show in Vegas. It was in the early days and I didn't recognize him when we first started talking. He was very nice and happy to chat. It turns out that he was opening for The Dead.

Ted Kennedy at a dog park in NW DC every once in a while. He wore a coat with "Ted" embroidered on it, I guess in case people weren't sure. He looked rough.

Vanessa Williams looks great, even with no makeup.

Chris Rock looks like an unassuming, puny guy.

Gregory Hines, sorry to speak ill of the dead, was a jerk and looked haggard.

Stunning? Really?

I posted before but I forgot some.

Mike Myers: looks older than his years
Seth Green: very pleasant and nice (introduced himself at a party) and VERY short. My friend described him as 'pocket-sized.'
Kate Flannery: looked great. I only saw her sitting down, so no comment about height. Chatty and fun.
Ira Glass (NPR): about what you'd expect.
Harry Belafonte: so charming. A handsome man.

Vanessa Williams and her mom are family friends so maybe I'm biased but I've never seen either of them look less than lovely. (All right, I am biased.)
