Lawyer with a company
$212K base, $32K bonus (mostly stock) I'm 45, just moved up from director level to officer level |
Yup they do. And so do their spouses. |
What a nasty, bitchy comment. How cowardly to make such a mean spirited jibe. He or she likely have a very well balanced view of male and female roles and go far in life. How great to spend so much time with his father. Much better than being taken care of by daycare workers and never seeing his parents. |
| Back to the PR subthread. As a journalist (50 yo, $83k), I have so many PR flacks calling me every day to pitch me on stories, to see if I got their emails, etc. I just don't know if I want to/can do that. I feel like the job is basically sales for many of them. I can see doing PR for a nonprofit perhaps, but I still think you're judged on how many people pick up the story yourre trying to sell them. |

Lol. Get your panties out of a bunch. Just because someone insults you, it doesn't mean they are hateful. There is no need to call Jesse Jackson or Anderson Cooper.
SAHDs are not cute. It is disgraceful unless the man is disabled or retired after having a career. Otherwise, a man needs a job or he needs to be looking for one. I will say it online and I will say it to your face - deal with it. Get a job, write a book, start a business or do something so that you are not completely effeminate. Passing undesireable traits onto your kids is not cute. |

Journalists are more ethical than doctors and lawyers? Tell me another one. |

39, mid-management in one of those previously mentioned big local corporation. $96k + ~15% annual bonus. I'm hoping to crack the $100k base threshold soon. If I were to get the next level of promotion, more like $110 base + 20% bonus.
I feel underpaid, relative to the amount of work I do and compared to some colleagues.... |

You misread my point, which was that I don't think doctors and lawyers (or folks in other professions, for that matter) worry about being too "principled" when it comes to moving to perfectly reasonable jobs that can make them more money. There's nothing wrong with fully maximizing your skill set, whether you're a journalist by training, a doctor, a lawyer, or anything else. But feel free to continue on the reporter-bashing, we're used to it!
Yeah, you have a point there. I think I get, oh, 20-40 emails a day. Maybe more, I've stopped counting and jus hit delete. However, some flaks are really good at what they do; it's the ones who just shoot off press releases to every reporter, regardless of what that person covers, who grind my gears. The good ones know how to pitch a real story, not just a "hey write a story about my client's product please please please please" |
You're a bitch and I'd say that to your face too. My husband works (as I said) and also takes care of the kids full time. If you were to meet him effeminate is the last word you'd use to describe him. I guess he doesn't need to prove himself. Yes, you are hateful. Do you also think that all women need to have a job? For us it was more important to have one of us spend time with our children rather than pay a stranger to take care of them. In our family it made much more sense (sadly, because I'd love to do it) for it to be my husband and he's worked his schedule around that. This isn't unusual in this city. |
lol! |
+1+! |
Being a parent is a job. |
You are an ignorant racist low human being
