Which School Has the Bigger Perception Problem - Landon or Sidwell?

I think the only sports for which this may be true on an annual basis is football and lacrosse. The rest would depend on the sport and the year.

In football, lacrosse, hockey, waterpolo, track, baseball, and more sports, Sidwell would stand no chance anytime soon.

As a Sidwell parent, I'd say the pp is correct. The thing is, I send my Kids there because it's an excellent school with a decent sports program. Not because it's a decent school with an excellent sports program.

FYI, neither ice hockey nor water polo are official league sports in the IAC (not all IAC schools field a team). There is no league championship ("banner") and they do not count towards the Founders' Cup (bet overall IAC performance). Nor does Sidwell have teams in those two sports.

Waterpolo? Seriously? Let's add squash, fencing and other prep sports to the list. Why stop there? Ultimate Frisbee, chess and jousting on razor's come to mind.

And the horses. Think of the horses!

Fencing + Ultimate Frisbee + great academics would be my DC's dream school.

Water polo doesn't seem so exotic to me. It was a (public school) league sport when/where I grew up and one of my HS's strongest sports. Now, lacrosse and field hockey -- those are bizarre/niche sports, LOL!

Sidwell left the IAC for a reason, it was getting dominated in almost every sing sport back in the 90's. Sidwell Soccer is good as well as there wrestling program. Both Sidwell Soccer and Wrestling and I even suspect CC would compete for IAC titles.

The glamor sports (the sports in this area which tend to receive a lot of attention) in this area, football and basketball and lacrosse, Sidwell has a ways to go. Sidwell hoops is pretty good, but if you take away the 2 minority students Sidwell had transfer in last Summer, they would be average at BEST.

Right, which is why they play in the MAC. That's the league that works best for Sidwell. It should not be in the IAC, doesn't want to be in the IAC.

Quidditch. That's DD's dream school (and I'm not joking).

And nobody in the IAC wants Sidwell back. Playing sports against Sidwell teams is a waste of time.

thing.

GDS has Quidditch (in middle school, at least), but, alas, it's not a league sport. And I'm not joking!

Although I *am* exaggerating -- it's part of PE and/or Rec Games and not an everyday (or full-term)

In the last year, Sidwell has beat Landon and some other IAC teams in several sports including Cross-country, soccer, baseball and wrestling. I look forward to your claim that only lacrosse and football matter.

Sorry, angryman, but those are the facts.

Yeah, everybody really cares about cross country.

Wait, Sidwell is the only school that has minority students on its teams? This is news to me. Do tell.
