Recent field trip to New York City

That’s why many parents, not only me, are pissed.

... so OP could have just participated in the group texts but she chose to play coy and bring us all on this journey 🤣

Yes, the idea that people post here "to get information" is hilarious. As if they didn't already go down that thread in person and via texts. OP is precious.

Yuuuuuppp she was pulling us along because if she had dropped it all we would have quickly clocked it for a solid, normal school trip lost its Broadway cherry on top and became a philosophical crisis about tuition value and perceived culture degradation... how can we feel elite while our children are at a Jersey d&b🫠

This post is dangerously close to what their daughter was parroting to my kid. If you didn't like the itinerary, which included a museum visit, a food experience that aligns with a capstone project, and a trip to a major national monument, don't send your kid. Homeschool them for those two days and and see how well you do.

DP. Some schools do not accept or allow fellow parents to complain. Op has a right to come on here and vent. She obviously did not feel like she could ask questions to her fellow parents and based on some of these replies I can understand why. If parents thought kids were going to a Broadway show and they did not then yes they have a right to be upset. No, op does not have to out herself and complain to the school. Often those parents get a bad reputation even though in all honestly they are often saying what many others are thinking.

Jeez. Imagine being those teachers who endured a bunch of middle schoolers at D&Bs and now are getting trolled online by the parents for it.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Thank you! I just wanted to add that this was not an isolated incident. In the previous year, there was a field trip to Mount Vernon, and when the kids arrived, the mansion was closed for maintenance. It was such a waste of time for the kids.

Truly! OP has the right to complain, but the big reveal here is OP is a self absorbed dunce.

I don’t think that the teachers are ultimately responsible for the decisions of this field trip.

You are going to pull a kid from a full learning experience about immigration if they don't top it off with a broadway play? Seems a bit excessive...

Calling this a learning experience is too generous. Those looked like very brief pit stops on the way to Dave and Busters. Certainly there is no point in bussing kids to NYC and staying overnight for just those pit stops which are quite trivial.

The teachers should have cancelled the trip when they saw the itinerary.

Ellis Island and the statue of Liberty are trivial now?! What a lune...

No, OP you should have pulled your kid if you didn't like it. I'm starting to think you aren't just "playing" dumb...

Yes they are trivial when you live in Washington DC. We have more significant monuments to visit than that. Also how much time exactly was spent on Ellis Island???? What about the in-person trip was more educational than a classroom discussion?
