Recent field trip to New York City

At our school, every year the kids used to go to a Broadway play. This year, the trip was to Dave & Buster’s in New Jersey. If you are in the same school, do you know what might have happened? It’s not that tuition has gone down and the school needs to cut costs—quite the opposite.

Why not Dave and Busters closer to here?

That’s exactly my point.

What school is this? This is embarrassing on many levels. This is what happens when people with no culture or arts start running things.

That is on the same level as Chuck E Cheese. Were they unable to get a reservation there?

Is a 60k tuition school. But I wanted some input from actual parents that send their kids there.

I would ask the school directly. Very valid question.

That’s ridiculous. A Broadway play in New York City is a cultural experience worth doing. A trip to New Jersey to go to Dave & Buster’s, is in no way a commensurate experience. I would be really pissed off, and I would be demanding an explanation of what the value of this kind of substitution is in the minds of whoever made this ridiculous decision.

I am still surprised since field trips should also be an educational experience.

What school? This is ridiculous. It is supposed to be a cultural experience. Sadly many of the newly wealthy in this area have never been to a Broadway show and they get on school boards and have influence etc...

Feels like someone massively messed up acquiring the show tickets!

Perhaps the intent was to teach kids how the other 99% live.

Oh please. This has nothing to do with a board decision.

OP, I would not be happy about this at all. Did you not know about this before the trip? Someone should have spoken up then.

And are you saying that they went to Dave & Busters instead of a Broadway play, or that was the meal part of the day?
