Recent field trip to New York City

Multiple things can be true:

1) Kids may have had a lot of fun and come together as a group going on an overnight trip.

2) Spending significant time from a two-day one-night trip at Dave and Busters seems somewhat frivolous.

Certainly Dave and Busters seems like a big step back from Broadway. "Big Step Back" seems to be the emerging Maret motto this year.

DJ Middle School was too busy to plan this!

It’s not Bullis. I have kids there. All of 8th grade does a day trip to NY to see a play. They went last week and saw The Outsiders. No Dave and busters and not only the theater kids…. It was in the weekly update from the MS Head last week.

Bullis field trip sounds way more normal than the one in the other school.

The both sound perfectly normal. OP just is making a mountain out of a molehill cause her kid missed the broadway hook up...

It was Maret. And no I don't think it was a big deal. Parents were lighting up text threads and sure I was annoyed but not to this level. Someone probably messed up and didn't do what they had to in time. They did other things. It was fine and it was safe.

Certainly when my kid goes to 6th grade I won’t send him on the field trip if he is going to spend time at D&B’s rather than at a Broadway show.

Maret does not cost $60k in middle school

You are going to pull a kid from a full learning experience about immigration if they don't top it off with a broadway play? Seems a bit excessive...

Well, ask the parents about the conditions of the bus.

Our school does do this type of field trip as a way to build community within the grade, but I would be pissed if this were instead of a cultural experience like a Broadway show. Dave & Busters is everywhere. It's nothing special.
