Me neither!!

Both kids' names mentioned here, but once each and as part of larger lists. One poster clearly did not like names that are often used by Jewish families.

Names I dislike for no particular reason: Nora, Oliver, Clara, Hudson and Jordan for a girl

Too funny. I have a Nora, and the one on the way will be Clara. To each her own!

Me neither -- and my kids names are super common so I expected to see them here. LOL! I wouldn't be offended.

Anonymous wrote:Ashley is a very offensive stripper name. During a certain period of time, there had to be classrooms FULL of Ashleys. YUCK.

Jack was the nickname for my ex's penis. Seriously. I think "penis" whenever I hear the name Jack.

Ashley (and Leslie, and Beverly) were all boys names til the 20th century. I know two male Ashleys my age now. I don't much like boys' names for girls. I know a baby girl Ryan.

I also really dislike Jasper (like nails on the chalkboard for me) and unfortunaly there frequently seems to be one around me. Not sure if it is the same kid.

I prefer to hear common names like Ella or Lily to River, Ocean, Pearl, or Ambrose, which are names I've been hearing at the playground lately. Seems to me like those parents are trying too hard.

I don;t like Jasper either and hadn't really heard it until recently (I'd heard of it, obviously, but didn't know any). Now it seems that DC is lousy with Jaspers.

[cough] Twilight [cough] Jasper is a vampire on Twilight. I hate to say that Twilight is affecting naming trends, but Jasper came out of nowhere.

Until recently, I heard Jasper and thought of the little old man from The Simpsons. Now, of course, it's Twilight. I also encountered an Emmett at a birthday party recently.

Does that mean that I don't like your child named Ezra? Or that I don't like you for naming your son Ezra? Nope, I can still like you, and him, even if the name does nothing for me.

There's nothing Better than Ezra.

OK, so why is Cohen a bad choice for a name. What are its origins?

Maybe their names are just so weird/ugly that we can't even think of them.

Puh-leeze. It's not like people use strange spellings because they are too uneducated to know the right way. Sadly, novelty spellings are an affliction that strikes people in all walks of life.

Yes, pop culture dictates name popularity - there weren't that many Aidens until Carrie started dating Aiden in Sex and the City. And Bella was almost unheard of until Twilight.

Actually, Irish names have gotten much more criticism.
