There is a reason why a standard std panel doesn't test for HSV.

No. We're not all herpetic whores. That's just a slut thing. Sorry, not sorry.

So you're just a dumb whore?

I'm not a whore at all. That's the point. Only whores get the herp. Do try to keep up. If you are unable, maybe sit this one out, trollop.

Just when I think we’re not in the dark ages anymore…

PP will surely live long enough to have to shed some ignorant and puritanical beliefs. My BFF got it from her second BF at age 23 who she dated for 3 years. Maybe PP is the “no sex outside of marriage” freak?

So she should have been more cautious. Asked him to test and take anti virals . She seems reckless

She doesn't seem reckless at all - three years he didn't shed the virus and then he did. That's how it works. He may never have had an outbreak (that is very possible) so he never knew he had it to be tested or take anti-virals. Just like HPV, you can shed the virus and not know which is why it's important to vaccinate your kids before they become sexually active.

Outbreak is how they found out they have it. But they were dormant for 3 years.

What are the risks for oral and PIV?

Wtf are you even talking about OP?
Ask a doctor. Sounds bad.

Isnt there some newish shots we can give our newborns, toddlers and teens to prevent a lifetime of high risk STDs? Then they can just go do whatever sexually.

Also not sure your child status but HSV can cause major complications during pregnancy. If kids are in your future, that’s something to think about.

Not to scare you OP, but a friend had HSV and ended up having an anencephalic baby which was stillborn (or perhaps aborted) in the 8th month. The whole situation was tragic. She and her DH went on to have 3 typically developing pregnancies and deliveries. But, it is important to know that herpes during pregnancy can cause serious birth defects.

This is true for all HSV and Varicella outbreaks. Practice safe sex if you are in an active outbreak. It can take a long time for the outbreaks to cycle down. If you are a dating adult, it is very difficult to avoid if you are sexually active outside of marriage.

Condoms protect - not 100% but very close to that. And I do ask if partner has HSV2. Men try to skip condoms. Being a dating woman I do think it's on women to request protection and testing. A lot of men freak or find it too complicated and move on. Thus women don't ask taking risks upon themselves. I won't take risks for these people

So these people actually DO know that they have outbreaks and still go have sex with unprotected partners? Thanks for the input all clear. I'll keep asking for HSV tests

I went on a date with a girl and we really liked each other. We didn't have sex for a month and when we are about do it she broke crying telling me. Fairly or unfairly I chickened out and we stopped seeing each other. She said she regularly take veltrax but I couldn't get over a bunch of sores appearing on my d**k

Such a beautiful woman too. If this woman were not honest, she can contaminate an entire village because she is the kind of woman 9/10 men will lay the pipe bare inside her.

Herpes sucks. Oddly enough people seem to be cool with people walking around with cold sores even though that's herpes as well.

This is very true.

Most people carry the HSV virus of one type or another.

It’s comical how few adults understand how common HSV really is:

“As of 2016, about 67% of the world population under the age of 50 had HSV-1.[3] In the United States, about 47.8% and 11.9% are estimated to have HSV-1 and HSV-2, respectively, though actual prevalence may be much higher.[4] Because it can be transmitted through any intimate contact, it is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections.[5]”

The posts on this thread make is seem like genital herpes is:
Acceptable
Not bad
All the cool kids have it
It's normal

It is not. And if OP wants to have a normal dating life for the rest of his life he will not risk 3 minutes of fun for a lifetime of genital herpes.

Lol. I got it from a long term BF I dated from ages 21-24, 20 years ago. I proceeded to date and find a great husband with no issue. You just have to disclose. Maybe I am somehow lucky finding smart guys who understand public health, but truly I had no issues and haven’t given it to anyone.

try to date in your 40-50s with HSV2 as a woman. Or getting married. You will see what people here are telling you

Heroes or no herpes dating for a woman over 40 is hard. Sex is easy. She can be 70, a 30 year old horny man will have sex with her.

However, finding a man who wants to seriously date a 40 years old woman good luck.
