Not to scare you OP, but a friend had HSV and ended up having an anencephalic baby which was stillborn (or perhaps aborted) in the 8th month.  The whole situation was tragic.  She and her DH went on to have 3 typically developing pregnancies and deliveries.  But, it is important to know that herpes during pregnancy can cause serious birth defects. [/quote]

This is true for all HSV and Varicella outbreaks. Practice safe sex if you are in an active outbreak. It can take a long time for the outbreaks to cycle down. If you are a dating adult, it is very difficult to avoid if you are sexually active outside of marriage.[/quote]

So these people actually DO know that they have outbreaks and still go have sex with unprotected partners? Thanks for the input all clear. I'll keep asking for HSV tests[/quote]
