+1 I’m an eldest daughter and I’ve spent my life like this too. Afraid to burden my parents with anything other than goodness because of the health difficulties that my younger sibling has had, and will continue to have for the rest of their lives. |
Agree. Imagine growing up that way. What a tragedy. |
What about her dad? Do his opinions matter? |
She's not the oldest dd. Her sister Rose is. I'm so sick of this "Omg oldest daughters have it so tough" shtick and I am the oldest of two girls. She isn't like this bc she's an oldest dd or a middle dd. She's like this bc she was raised in a family that had an intensely public tragedy every few years. |
Ed Schlossberg had a fairly normal upbringing in a UMC Orthodox Jewish family in the 50s. I'm sure his opinions matter to Tatiana but she didn't feel as protective of him bc he hadn't experienced as much loss as Caroline. |
Disagree with this assessment of Jack. He has said repeatedly he acts like a troll bc he's trying to make the point that right wing trolls get press. When you actually watch him interview Jen Psaki or Mike Pence or talk about politics on his webshow, he comes across like a normal 30something guy. Well spoken and intelligent. I saw him on a GOP podcast a few weeks ago and he was calm and thoughtful. |
Agree. I’m the only child. Was I supposed to feel some burden that I was responsible for everything? It’s unhealthy. |
The point he is making is that nepo kids get press |
Yep. He’s an unhinged nepo kid. |
I think there’s actually some new evidence running marathons and ultramarathons is associated with higher risk of some cancers due to the stress that puts on your body. |
| This is so terrible and awfully sad for the kids she’s leaving behind. But, I don’t get the level/amount of remorse people can have for celebrities like the Kennedy family, extreme wealth, fame, and nepotism. I just can’t. |
A lot of ultramarathoners are recovered addicts. I wouldn’t assume that research is anywhere near conclusive. |
The lack of empathy on this thread is bizarre. Some of you are more worried about Bobby Kennedy having to weather two paragraphs of criticism than you are about the children who will be left without a mother, and the rest of you are trying to do this noble thing where you "just don't understand the amount of sympathy for the Kennedy family." People don't feel sorry for her because she's a Kennedy. People feel sorry for her, as they would any woman, who was cut down in the prime of her life leaving behind two small children. |
I think the suggestion was that Hitting the wall and also the stomach distress from running very long distances isn’t good for your body—it’s a shock and your body isn’t meant to do that repeatedly. Also marathoners tend to be underweight as opposed to healthy weight and underweight people have generally worse health outcomes. |
+1. Literally no one is saying “oh what a tragedy because she’s [wealthy, a Kennedy, went to an Ivy].” It’s a tragedy because she young and has young kids. You know she’d rather be dirt poor, u educated and have her health. Health is the ultimate “privilege”. |
