https://people.com/caroline-kennedys-daughter-tatiana-schlossberg-reveals-terminal-cancer-diagnosis-11855177 "For my whole life, I have tried to be good, to be a good student and a good sister and a good daughter, and to protect my mother and never make her upset or angry," she added. "Now I have added a new tragedy to her life, to our family’s life, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it," said the mom of two."
This part didn’t land well with me. It sounds extremely dysfunctional to spend your “whole life” trying to be the good girl, protecting your mom, and not make her angry. I get that to some extent, we’re all like that and it’s human nature, but for it to be such a big part of her, this was sad to me. To grow up in fear of “adding to the tragedy” is such a heavy burden. This poor family.
Mmm, it’s pretty typical for the oldest daughter.
She's not the oldest dd. Her sister Rose is. I'm so sick of this "Omg oldest daughters have it so tough" shtick and I am the oldest of two girls. She isn't like this bc she's an oldest dd or a middle dd. She's like this bc she was raised in a family that had an intensely public tragedy every few years.
