https://people.com/caroline-kennedys-daughter-tatiana-schlossberg-reveals-terminal-cancer-diagnosis-11855177 "For my whole life, I have tried to be good, to be a good student and a good sister and a good daughter, and to protect my mother and never make her upset or angry," she added. "Now I have added a new tragedy to her life, to our family’s life, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it," said the mom of two."
This part didn’t land well with me. It sounds extremely dysfunctional to spend your “whole life” trying to be the good girl, protecting your mom, and not make her angry. I get that to some extent, we’re all like that and it’s human nature, but for it to be such a big part of her, this was sad to me. To grow up in fear of “adding to the tragedy” is such a heavy burden. This poor family.
Agree. Imagine growing up that way. What a tragedy.
What about her dad? Do his opinions matter?
Ed Schlossberg had a fairly normal upbringing in a UMC Orthodox Jewish family in the 50s. I'm sure his opinions matter to Tatiana but she didn't feel as protective of him bc he hadn't experienced as much loss as Caroline.
