Name 2 things about the USA you don’t like

Anonymous
1. Selfishness - as demonstrated by for profit everything and gun culture, bad public schools because everyone with money goes to private so nobody care about public, to political irresponsibility - ambition and money is all there is

2. Inability to be satisfied with simplicity - from McMansions to defense industry, to 10 different types of grapes or toothpaste, why does portion size have to be so big at restaurants and why can't we go grocery shopping for fresh foods v junk?

People in this country are so focused on the wrong values.

What I like about the US?

1. It's big enough that you can be and have and do anything you want without oversight or judgement. You're free to be an idiot.

2. Everything is regulated. You can't do anything without jumping through hoops in an official capacity from driving, voting, buying a house, but damn it's good to have a level of safety and peace of mind to have layers of protection when you consider that we are trying to make things as legit as possible even if not always successful. A lot of other countries are less strict about consumer protections and it's more stressful for sure.

This. Didn’t read the whole thread, but after Sandy Hook, and even Columbine, which happened earlier, I knew we were on a terrible track when shooting up schools was normalized.

Gun culture is crazy and hard for me to understand. I’m not for banning all firearms, but it needs to be HIGHLY regulated and owning a gun should be a privilege reserved for law abiding citizens. Also, the kinds of guns available to the public should be restricted.

Too many "studies", white papers, and policy. Too much management, process, meetings, infighting and overhead.

Many other countries make forward progress. We pay for "progress" and it never gets implemented or moved forward.

Looks like "Moms Wanting Action" are spamming this thread.

I might revise my list to include

"Too many Karen busybodies sticking their snouts into other's lives"

Our government is secretly controlled by the Jews!

Plenty of countries that you could move to that follow your train of thought. Not going to happen in the US any time soon if ever.

1. That we import poverty for some reason and spend piblic resources on them. I would understand working age adults but there are also kids and old people
2. Kids who aren’t supposed to be mainstreamed are mainstreamed

Air conditioning except in PNW US of A where it was not the norm to have one.

1. We have not yet air conditioned the outdoor environment.
2. We continue to ignore the root cause of much of America’s problem - mental illness.

1. AIPAC
2. Ethnocentricity

Yeah it never will. More new guns have been sold in the USA in the last 20 years than the entire history of the world prior to that. Gun ownership has skyrocketed in the USA since 1993. Over 750,000,000 known firearms in the USA alone, and that's not even counting what was made prior to the early 1900s, or homemade firearms, etc.

Interesting concept. Global AC cooling. Could probably create an AC system that moved heat off planet into space. Now that would be interesting.

But some Lex Luther CEO would take it over and use it to over cool the planet and force everyone to buy expensive heating fuel.
