This. The pride that people take in their ignorance is disgusting. I don't get down on people for being uneducated-- education = privilege, after all-- but I have pure contempt for people who brag about it.

I agree with this, well said. And an md, I hate the healthcare system, but number 2 encapsulates that as well as other issues very nicely. Fifteen years ago, I would have put gun culture as #2 instead of #1, but now it’s on top.
