Lack of widespread walkability, and that living in a walkable area now is basically an indicator of being UMC to wealthy. I grew up in DC and so living other places has made me really yearn for the ability to walk freely. We have covered so much of America with an infrastructure that doesn’t support and/or is downright hostile to pedestrians and I hate it.
Americans are very hard to engage socially. I’m third generation American but there’s enough vestiges of the past in my upbringing that being social and communal are more natural to me than it seems to be for many Americans. For being so “busy” Americans don’t really seem to invest a lot in their communities and certainly not into having fun and enjoying life. It’s boring and lame frankly. |

No great train service. How increasingly more tasteless and tacky behavior has become and how acceptable it is. |

Narrative of pulling yourself up from bootstraps when in reality there are oppressed population for whom that’s really really hard (and then we look down on those people as if they had the same opportunities as the rest of us and just should have tried harder) |
