It’s clear that maga and musk bots are going to pretend prices have not gone up.
However, they clearly have. And it’s going to get much worse. |
| Well, my new roll of Aluminum foil is 200 sq yards instead of 250. I have no idea if the price changed. I don't buy it very often. |
My OJ went from 64 oz to 48. It's like a sip for my teenager now. |
I buy 50 lbs of rice and live in a small DC rowhouse. I do it because we eat a lot of rice, so I don’t want to constantly shop for it, and it’s cheaper in bulk. It doesn’t take much space at all, and it’s easy to store. |
You don’t know anyone who eats bread? |
Until you get a batch with pantry moths. |
| Mayonnaise is super expensive. Especially the namebrand I was able to get a local brand for like half the price. There are also some seriously small jars of mayonnaise on the shelf from Hellmann’s. I wonder if it’s that when that batch was made eggs were super high? I did get eggs for three dollars a dozen tonight. I paid about six dollars for 5 pounds of flour. |
Make your own mayo. Easy peasey. |
Side note, OJ is one of the most unhealthy things you can ingest. Tons of fructose and pesticides for just a tiny amount of Vit C. |
I believe officially inflation has fallen sharply, no? Or are you one of these people who believed there was no inflation or that it was a right wing fiction during the 2020-2022 price spikes? I shop carefully and really haven't seen notable increases in prices across the board. There are always some seasonal variations for certain products. |
Yes. They went up at insane levels... under Biden |
My MIL was not a great cook, but her pie crust was amazing. She used crisco. |
I bake plenty of pies every summer. My most popular recipe uses both butter and crisco. Butter for flavor and a bit of crisco for flakiness. But I tend to use all butter for greater ease and if moving quickly get a pretty comparable outcome. My objection to crisco is that it's slightly messier than butter. |
Actually there are studies showing that among other things it improves the diversity of the gut microbiome. It’s not good if you’re diabetic but small quantities (like 4 ounces a day) otherwise can have some notable health benefits. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30638420/ |
I love orange juice. I only had the canned concentrate as a kid (watered down) and now that I'm a grownup with a paycheck I will drink OJ, thanks very much. |
