Man and Woman Shot and Killed Outside Capital Jewish Museum

Israel has lost approximately 1200 (includes military and security personnel) since the 10/7 attacks. Over 54,000 Palestinians (mostly woman and children) have been killed in the same time frame.

So would you say this is Palestinians were targetted instead of Jews?

Palestinian terrorism against Jews started with the Hebron massacre of 1929 and continued in every decade since. American victims included Sara Duke, Matthew Eisenfeld, Marla Bennett, Benjamin Blutstein, Alisa Flatow.

54,000 was a significant underestimation because of all the bodies stuck under the rubble and those that have yet to be identified.

He did the killing to Free Palestine, according to him.

While it's certainly possible to criticize Israeli gov't policy on it's merits, this circular logic exemplifies how more often than not it's just anti-semitism.

The difference between racism and anti-semitism is that racists generally view their racial/ethnic/religious group as superior to others, while anti-semites view a specific group (Jews) as solely responsible for the world's ills in some way. With this logic, Israel is solely responsible for the world's ills and in this particular case, the Jewish diaspora's ills. If Israel did not exists, Jews in the diaspora would be safe--or "safer"--whatever that means.

Israel is not upsetting people around the world by simply existing. They are committing a brutal genocide. No one is suggesting they are responsible for “the world’s ills” but they are 100% responsible for their own abhorrent actions. If Israel represents Jewish statehood, how is committing war crimes in their name making Jewish people safer? Where do you expect extremists to direct their anger?

Nothing can justify this senseless murder. Nothing.
Stop trying. There is no justification.

Universities are indirectly responsible for replacing all their Jewish studies departments with Middle East studies headed exclusively by anti-Zionists, then promoting a campus culture that pretends intifada supporters are antiwar peace activists.

Jewish terrorism against Palestinians was happening at the same time.

It's all evil. Neither side has anything close to approaching clean hands. They both suck. My heart goes out to all the innocent victims and my condemnations flow to all the evil perpetrators.

the problem with the left is their oppressor vs oppressed narrative. To them the oppressed can do no wrong

And the man he killed had a Jewish father but himself was a devout Christian.

If Sandy Hook wasn’t a line, I don’t think 2 adults shot dead on a sidewalk will be a line either.

There are two many guns in this country.

Elias Rodriguez was a conspiracy nut loon. Crazy people are going to do what crazy people do when they get their hands on guns.

+1 I feel bad for all of the regular citizens getting caught in the mix.

I wonder if Yaron Lischinsky could have been targeted as someone who had been serving in the IDF

How would the shooter possibly have known that he had served in the IDF? People are really searching for ways to justify this murder. I think it's hard to argue seriously that killing an American Jewish woman and her German Israeli Christian boyfriend outside a D.C. museum to the history of Jews in the Washington area is a legitimate and carefully walled-off expression of anti-Israeli political sentiment. Even if he specifically intended to shoot these people as opposed to just happened to shoot whoever he first encountered outside the museum.
