Dp. Again, all you’re doing is driving people away. I voted D for decades. My parents were immigrants who didn’t go to high school. Dad had a blue collar job and thanks to the union we had healthcare and a nice small house in a good school district. I’m the embodiment of the American dream, having gone to an Ivy League school and been relatively successful and none have a family of my own.

Democrats have abandoned people like my family, legal immigrants with traditional values. I’m done. The disrespect and disdain for anyone who disagrees with the extreme edges of the party drives people away. This thread is just one example of it.

I agree. I feel pushed away by the Democratic Party, too. I have very progressive relatives (close-in MD). I don’t even have to disagree; if I simply ask the wrong question, dinner becomes combative and uncomfortable.

It is absolutely doing damage to the Democrats. If shutting down conversation is the go-to method of operating, I’m not interested in participating.
