| not leaving…yet. We are dual EU/US so we’re prepared to leave DC and the US if we need to. |
| A lot of people who move to DC are always looking for a reason or way to move back to their hometown. I'd have to believe a lot of feds are saying f it and using this time to do just that. |
| I know multiple long term families fleeing Capitol Hill because of the crime. |
| It appears around 200 (201?) - and am thus well above the threshold - my age gets me no points but I have a masters and speak English. |

They're leaving Arlington/NOVA.
And being replaced with newcomers: "Across Northern Virginia, the 2023-to-2024 population increase was attributable to migration from outside the U.S. coupled with natural growth (births minus deaths)." "Net domestic outmigration, by contrast, remains high both in Arlington and across Northern Virginia. Regionally, nearly 15,000 more people left Northern Virginia for other U.S. locations over the year than moved in. But that was more than offset by increases of about 33,500 from international areas." “People are moving to Richmond or Atlanta or Texas, places where they can find housing,” said Fairfax County Supervisor Dalia Palchik (D-Providence)." https://www.arlnow.com/2025/03/31/arlingtons-population-is-on-the-rise-despite-many-people-still-moving-out/ |
I believe that used to be called "white flight." |
I think so too. Is it not called that anymore? Not being snarky seriously asking. What else can you call this? |
It’s driven by economics and housing unaffordability, not race. |
Only if the people moving out have more money and therefore choices than the people moving in. |
Well that's how it is in the city of Alexandria. Free busses, housing, basic income, free internet, free food, free cell phone. People with money are leaving. 3-4% of the cities population has fled already. |

We left. Moved to Maine.
Big sigh of relief. |
I bet! I want to pack a U-Haul tomorrow. When did you leave? I wont look back either. |
Last fall. |
| The last five years of our new neighbors here said they use to live in DC. They all said because of the crime. |

Not leaving, will fight to the end. |
