I have no friends who are leaving dc because of trump, even the ones who lost their jobs. I don’t plan on leaving either because I have a non-political job I love. But I am a bit surprised that I don’t know anyone who is looking to move in a serious way. I know plenty who are talking about it, but I know they’re not serious. Do you know people who are planning on moving their families?
Why would people leave because someone is elected for 4 years? Odd post.
I know a couple people retiring a few years early than they might have wanted, and they eventually plan to leave but they planned to leave after retirement anyhow.
Yes but they worked for USAID
No, moving is crazy expensive and I'm not going to move unless I have to.
No, not at all.
To where? No one knows where to go unless you had already planned to move to retire and have a place in mind or a second third home (or country) to go to
Yes I do. And I think a lot of people are being dishonest here saying they don't know anyone leaving.
Most people I know left during Covid
Everybody is fleeing DC right now.
I know a few with plans to leave, but it takes a year or two for some to uproot. They are Irish, English and other Euros, also one American. I’d like to go but am stuck as a caretaker for my 90 something mother. I don’t think anyone expects this to end in four years, or even twenty.
100%. |
I have single friends who have lost their jobs and will move back in with parents if they don't find something soon.
Yes. I know a few that are leaving the country as well. Some had to move, job loss in a high cost of living area isn’t a great combo.
Same, couple of friends took early reitirement and moved closer to kids |
