Thsi is chilling- it never even occurred to me that they would permenanently shut it all down on purpose. Maybe Schumer realized this b/c he is jewish and is more sensitive to how fascists operate and AOC (and I) are niave b/c we cant concieve of sonething like this. Im so afraid now that citizenship granted to immigrants and those born here after 1965 will be rescinded. I am at risk of becoming stateless.

Yes you can count on that! Why does that matter. Old Chuck and the roll over moderate dems will vote yes on anything the Republicans put before him. Chuck will vote to cut Medicaid, Medicare and social security! It is more important to work with the republicans than stand for nothing.

I think Dems are just plain idiots. Seriously, they let this buffoon win an election and Trump laid out exactly his plans prior to winning the election!

At this point, the Dems have no good options. I think better way is to let whatever happens happen and allow the people to figure things out on their own. As far as I'm concerned, US govt is a sham at this point - on one side are the morons and the other side are the monsters. Neither side deserves deference.

Man, at least the GOP are united. The Dems are a mess. I don't know about standing up to Trump's CR - even if they manage to all vote no on it - they look like fools not united doing so. That represents a leadership problem which is BIGGER than winning this battle. You just can't win this war if you're divided. So that leads to really scary stuff if there is a shut down...
