Are people canceling summer vacations or not really that concerned yet?

Cancelling because of economic fears or getting in and out of country? Or both?

I’m going to OC

I wish there was a way to signify when traveling abroad that we are not Trump supporters. A hat saying “we didn’t vote for this” too obvious?

Oh for petes sake. No one cares. Do you walk around in your Kamala Harris t-shirt on the daily too? Just to make sure everyone knows how you stand? Are you still wearing those blue bracelets that were a trend after the election?

Yeah, I'm sure you forgot about that too.

It's possible to wear neutral clothing--wool pants, cashmere sweater, nice shoes.

The topic of the thread is SUMMER vacation.

Okay? Linen pants, blouse in natural fibers, nice sandals. Get the idea?

Just act like a normal friendly person. We met some French men in line at WDW and they were basically like, "so, wow, Trump huh?" and we were just like "yeah we are so sorry, I don't know what is going to happen." They never assumed we were Trump voters.

Just canceled summer trip, was fully refundable; DH just lost his job (Fed contractor); my salary can support us but using this as a reason to tighten our belts

We just returned from a trip to Europe. We were surprised that the Europeans preferred Trump over Biden as they think he is better set to stop the Ukraine war. We were really surprised at the number of Europeans that brought this topic up to us.

This is not how Europeans on social media believe, for sure.

If you’re a Fed, that’s another perk that shouldn’t be. They should be donated to vetted charities.

You were the one in elementary school that everyone hated, right? JFC!

Furthermore, at my agency government travel is paid for with government-issued travel cards. So no one is getting personal perks.

And what exactly is your idea of a "vetted charity" praytell? I can just imagine - perhaps a donation to American Family Association? You know, the ones who laud Adolf Hitler and think children of same-sex couples should be forcibly removed from their homes.

+1

Some people are so determined to prove fed employee = bad that they’ll just make crap up like people take personal travel on government points.

And I’ll add that my dad traveled a lot for work when I was a kid and his company allowed him to keep all his points. I remember using it for flight upgrades and lounges when we’d travel.

Feds get so much less leeway with this type of thing and are still told how entitled/privileged we are. I’m pretty sure they want us all to work in a slum building for minimum wage.

Not sure where you were but this was not our experience 2 weeks ago in Europe. Not one single person in the 3 countries we were in preferred Trump. They all despised him.
