Are people canceling summer vacations or not really that concerned yet?

Not taking a vacation during this economic collapse.

If you’re a Fed, that’s another perk that shouldn’t be. They should be donated to vetted charities.

I earn the points personally through credit card sign up bonuses and spending. I don’t travel for work.

You were the one in elementary school that everyone hated, right? JFC!

We were planning to go to Europe for spring break but hadn’t purchased airfare or made any non-refundable plans yet (though we had done an extensive amount of planning). We decide to cancel both to save money and because I would feel uncomfortable as an American abroad right now.

How would everyone know you’re American? Are you wearing American flag clothing? People always seem to worry about this, but in my experience no one can tell where you’re from. We were just in Switzerland and were mistaken for other nationalities multiple times.

BS. Americans stick out even without opening their mouths. We traveled internationally during dumpster fire #1 and we got asked about trump many times.

Some of us actually know how not to travel like a stereotype, and we have no problems traveling outside of the U.S.

I would rather look the stereotype than be one of those Americans cosplaying as a European. They stick out the most and are actually the funniest.

Furthermore, at my agency government travel is paid for with government-issued travel cards. So no one is getting personal perks.

And what exactly is your idea of a "vetted charity" praytell? I can just imagine - perhaps a donation to American Family Association? You know, the ones who laud Adolf Hitler and think children of same-sex couples should be forcibly removed from their homes.

They can tell you’re American by how you dress. The same way I could tell that the people on our kayaking trip in Arizona were European because they were wearing tight ass jeans and Hugo Boss polo shirts to kayak in Arizona.

Or the woman wearing fancy, uncomfortable sandals at Disney World.

The sparkly Balenciaga slides they wore to hike the Narrows at Zion took me out

We're traveling a bunch. DH is military and working 12 days plus a bunch of TAD's, and the kids don't deserve to just sit at home without him.

It's possible to wear neutral clothing--wool pants, cashmere sweater, nice shoes.

Forget economic collapse (which is a big concern); the US is managing to upset everyone right now. This is beyond not agreeing with our foreign policies. Trump is pissing off Canada and the EU. He just went on a rant about how the Ukrainian president is a dictator. Go read a Canadian or European newspaper right now. And how will all these federal job cuts impact travel outside of the economy? He’s cutting jobs at the FAA. Our intelligence community is taking a significant blow. And this one month into this administration. Five months from now? What will this all look like?

In the not really concerned yet camp. Nothing put out affects either of us directly, yet. When it does, then we'll act. Fed and partner a contractor.
