Next season looks to be good for GP; younger players getting critical playing time this season

Why next season? They are winning and have just as many college commits as any other program. GP reloads and never rebuilds.

I'm a GP alum. They aren't ready to compete with Bullis and Landon yet. Next year, yes.

SJC is going to be 0-6 before they win their first game. Tough schedule. Reality has caught up with coach.

DeMatha fogo looked good against the Bullis backup fogo. If Bullis was healthy it would not have been a game.

Many of the local teams are going through some rough patches to start the season.

SJC late game composure
GP defense
Landon offense

Wait until the end of spring to figure out where they finish.

It's possible but the only people who care is you. We play the toughest schedule possible against the best players in the Country. Only way to get better and prepare for the next level. Keep beating your chest playing scrubs!

Based on my observation, GP is flying under the radar this year and will compete for an IAC championship and DC area bragging rights. Hoyas are balanced.

Landon needs to figure out its offensive woes. Bears are always well coached and I suspect they will have it figured out by league-play come April.

STA must be down as I don't think Severn is particularly strong this year, the Admirals are a very young squad with a new coaching staff. A bit surprised by the performance.

SJC is younger than people are giving them credit for. Speaks is playing an insane non-league schedule to open up the season. Gilman on the road is a must-win for the Cadets.

GZ is always athletic and plays hard. I wouldn't ever rule them out despite not having the high profile recruits on their roster this year. Losing to BL in Overtime on the road and dealing with Baltimore homer refs is nothing to hang your head on.

Bullis has the talent to compete with anyone. Bellistri is playing a softer schedule this year, despite having a loaded roster, it will be interesting to see how it pays off once league play begins.

Neutrals Rankings:

1. Prep
2. Bullis
3. GZ
4. Landon
5. SJC

I have said several times on this thread, the margin of talent between these 5 teams above is rather thin right now. Anyone one of these teams could beat one another. Will be very interesting to see which program improves over the course of the season. Championships are won in May, not in March.

SJC issues has nothing to do with being young. This is a coaching issue. They were up 5 vs BL and 6 vs St Paul's. This team cannot score and close games out like teams with a winning culture.

Speaks is a talented coach but doesn’t appear to dedicate as much time to recruiting as he did in past, which is a tell. His 2028 class is tiny and they barely have enough players to field a JV team now. He’s acting like a coach thats planning on making a move to a new program or bumping up to an Asst role with an elite college program.

I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of lacrosse kids choosing the WCAC in the next 3 years.

What does this mean? Why did Speaks bring in so few 28s? Is he leaving SJC after this season?

You have to have the families apply. Any crazy lacrosse family was going to avoid SJC with the stacked 26 and 27 classes.

More realistic explanation is that too many quality club players aren’t seeing the field and families know they never will at some schools. It’s not just SJC. GZA cut a large number of club lax playing juniors this spring. A number of elite DMV HS lax programs that had huge JV teams just a few years ago now struggle to field a JV team. Talent is dispersing because playing is better than watching.

I agree and this is a tough one. There are really good club kids who won't see the field as a junior or senior. School teams literally only play 4 poles and 4 attack unless it's a blowout either way and a blowout means an 8+ goal lead with 4 to play. Do you cut the junior and seniors to get the promising freshman and sophomores more reps or put the freshman on sophomores on jv and risk the backlash? GZ increasingly has chosen to cut the upperclassmen. Families want to go to a good program with good coaching, but the play time exists elsewhere and the coaching is nowhere near as good.

They really only had 4 2026s that played good club. 2 are committed and the other 2 are nit yet....so who did they cut?

Can you not? That is a child. One million things happened that affected the score. before and after whatever penalty you’re talking about.

Stop with the think of the children BS. These are mature boys playing public games available for anyone to watch. If one chooses to play in this environment then they should be ready to deal with the consequences of their actions.

Classy. Keep it up DCUM. I bet you are an amazing parent.
