+100

Liberals who consider themselves to be so tolerant and accepting of others

Holy Redeemer, BS, or St. E’s.

Then oakcrest or the heights for ultra conservative types.

They interviewed at the Heights for their oldest earlier this month. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear they looked at Mater Dei, too, but 3rd grade isn’t an entrance year. It’s nice to monitor be a normal family. SR makes sense for the early childhood piece and daughter with the boys going to MD. The Heights seems like an odd choice given the middle son’s age. HR and BS are possible. What about Our Lady of Victory. I know some families who attended and know where it is but know nothing beyond that. St E’s is too far out.

Third grade is when The Heights starts so that that be why they are interviewing there.

As a former SR Parent, I hope their daughter winds up at SR. It's great to have diversity of thought/ideas contrary to what many seem to think on this thread and the posts many others make on DCUM. I remember when it was ok to have different political opinions and we could all still come together as Americans.

It’s not about difference of opinions or diversity of thought. Vance is a misogynistic ahole with ideas about the role of women most similar to the Taliban. Anyone with a shred of common sense would not want him near their daughter’s all girls school.

Given that the regular school starts at age 3 it doesn't seem impossible.

I'm still guessing they are looking for both the younger kids, and are considering Mater Dei for the oldest.

Am I mistaken that SR is in Bethesda and the Vances live in Del Ray? That’s an awful commute. Is there any speculation they would move? Maybe this wasn’t a perspective family tour?

Um, he is the VP and will be living in DC at the Observatory.

You should get a plan ticket for Afghanistan and realize the enormous crazy thing you are saying. Not liking the administration is one thing, but sharing that type of comment is absolutely out of proportion.

+1 from another SR parent. I’m not a huge fan of the guy (to put it mildly) and I’m not exactly hoping he ends up at SR BUT I don’t think it’s a bad thing if they did. Diversity of thought is crucial to a vibrant and healthy community. We need to relearn how to disagree without it becoming a personal attack.

But we should not penalize the children for the parents sins. Let the kids go where the parents think they will thrive, and as long they don't make a big fuss at the school, let the kids just be any other student

Amen.

There is a difference between "different opinions" and someone wanting to take away your rights. It is a personal attack.

Our kids are at a different private but I grew up here and have known many lovely SR families. I’d actually welcome him being surrounded by SR values and kindness. Would hope some of their values would rub off on the family

For the SR parents that are looking forward to the possibility of the Vance’s joining the community, what diversity of thought and disagreements are you hoping they bring to SR?
