Why can’t people who’ve reached a ripe old age be more grateful?

Life curves at the end: you go from adult to wise elder, then begin to regress to teenager (surly, self-centered, emotional), kid (care free, generally irresponsible, no thoughts or care about future, lots of wants), toddler (prone to cranky tantrums, not fully capable of self-care, lots of needs), then infant (wholly dependent on others) before death. You can see many of the same challenging traits in some (certainly not all) aging adults. This is most typical of those who will experience some level of dementia.

Like I said, I only treat someone like a child if they are a child.

There’s a reason why babies are adorable(making their tantrums tolerable) and old people aren’t.

You are 100% right about gratefulness but do remember that aging mind and body are scary prisons, not luxury resorts.

At least 30-40% of old people are upset they have to live even though body is crumbling and nobody truly wants them to live.

agree 100%. The ones who have made it thus far are in relatively better health and are socializing 100% of the time.
