Because the average person feels that even though a mother shouldn’t be forced to do so, a mother who chooses not to is pretty shitty. Many people support abortion on a purely legal basis but still feel like in most instances, elective abortions are rather morally vile. |
She died because she was denied timely treatment after suffering an abortion complication. She was denied the treatment for 20 hours because the hospital was worried they’d be in legal trouble for treating her, due to abortion restrictions with punitive measures for medical providers who run afoul of these restrictions. Even though Georgia has an exception for the life of the mother, Amber Thurman wasn’t given the necessary treatment until it was too late to save her because medical professionals weren’t sure exactly when her death would be “imminent,” but could still be prevented. Unfortunately, they guessed wrong. |
So she got an abortion?? |
Then why are you complaining about it?? |
Complications are inherent risk in all medical procedures. |
Some white women prefer the benefits of white supremacy over reproductive rights, especially the older ladies. Young college educated women are coming out in droves for Harris. |
I would like to hear more about this. Which pro choice groups and in what ways did they shift to the left? If you were once pro choice, why does it no longer concern you that so many American women have lost rights that were once important to you? |
And then was denied timely lifesaving care because of abortion restrictions. |
Oh, so now Dems hate older white women? Add us to the list. |
Reproductive rights are available in every drugstore and clinic in America. You can get them mailed to your house after a virtual visit. So stop whining. No woman has an excuse for abortion in 2024. That’s why so few are performed today. Use birth control and stop whining about your irresponsibility. |
+1 No more performative women pink hat marches AFTER a Trump win like in 2016. Vote Trump out NOW. Vote for reproductive freedom. Harris for the win. |
Dems love ALL women. The GOP does not. |
Yes, but patients who are diagnosed with sepsis are usually treated immediately, not the next day. The standard of care for sepsis was denied to Amber because of Georgia’s abortion laws. Someone who is pro-life should be very upset that doctors were discouraged from saving her life. A medical panel ruled that her death was preventable, despite her abortion complications. She was denied the standard of care. |
Propublica’s own publication acknowledges that there is no evidence that doctors waited because of legal risk, noting that abortion to save the life of the mother is legal: “There is also an exception, included in most bans, to allow abortions “necessary in order to prevent the death of the pregnant woman or the substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily function.”” “It is not clear from the records available why doctors waited to provide a D&C to Thurman.“ “The committee does not interview doctors involved with the case or ask hospitals to respond to its findings. “ So you are just completely speculating about why the doctors acted as they did when Amber experienced rare but serious complications from an abortion pill. |
Dems don’t love pro-life women. |
