Why do married men fall for younger women?

You miss my point: No 20-something woman is going into a LTR with a 40+ man unless money/security is involved. You think a 20-something woman is moving in with a 40-something guy living at his mom's house?

Do you seriously think there aren't 20-something guys looking to be "kept," too? It's just that most women wouldn't want to be used like that, but most men don't really care because they think with their ____.

The person to whom I responded was talking about dating/sex which anyone can get whether for free or paying for it. This is about a LTR. Mark Green is 60 friggin years old. That 32yo woman would not be with him for the long haul if he wasn't in Congress and that's why he's going back after saying he wouldn't. Mark my words, it was intoxicating for her to be with a powerful politician, not grandpa working as a greeter at Walmart.

+1. Men who think it’s because they “age like wine” are delusional. A 20 year old is not going to marry an average middle class man, and especially not after he loses half of everything in a divorce and has to move into an apartment with a mattress on the floor.

There is a very small percentage of men who attract a small percentage of women because they offer financial security to women who don’t want to work and view their own success depends on which man they can land rather than what they themselves can accomplish.

And that’s fine. It works for them (sometimes….they also have a very high divorce rate). But the average 50 year old man will not be able to get a 25 year old to marry him.

I think it’s … unlikely that the 50 year old’s interest in the 25 year old is marriage.

You are completely missing the point.

Men start with "Older men can sleep with younger partners because men age well, older women can't"

When it turns out older women CAN sleep with younger partners.

So then men move the goal posts to (as PP stated): "younger men only sleep with older women because it's "banging a MILF" but they wouldn't want to be in a LTR/marry her".

When the reality is younger women don't want to be in LTRs/marry older men either *unless there is money, power, and security involved*

Older men are not inherently more desirable as marriage material or better-looking to younger women. Younger women pursue older men because they want the material benefits. The average middle aged man is not going to be able to maintain a LTR with a younger woman. Hook up with a few? Sure. Women AND men in their 20s are curious.

And the same happens with older women who have money. I know a woman in her late 40s who is a multi-millionaire and engaged to a 22 year old man. He actively targeted her (figured out what events she was speaking at) and won her over. Everybody knows it's about the money. They don't care.

If a man’s spouse is in roommate mode it’s very easy for a man to fall for a younger woman, or any woman. My guess is that for many men, hopping in the sack with a younger woman is like putting a notch on a bedpost, a source of pride. I think that holds true for woman as it make them feel that they’ve still got it.

You are correct. I think these days we shouldn't generalize. I am 28 and fooling around with a 41 year divorced woman. She is an amazing woman. She doesn't look her age at all. She is in great shape, she is fun amd very attractive. But I don't see this going beyond a hook up relationship. When I am ready to settle I prefer someone around my age. The 12 years gap is just too much for me.

And older men who think that younger women aren't thinking about their age gap are delusional.

A pretty woman who wants to have sex with me is a point of pride. But mostly, she’s pretty and we’re having sex.

Female here - after my divorce I dated a couple of much younger guys for that very reason. But I got over it and now I’m much happier with a guy my age.

It's a hell of a lot simpler than that, sweetheart.

Older women always play the mortality card because they themsleves cant deal with the fact that they have spoiled.

Older women don't "spoil", they mature. Think wine, scotch... You have to refine your palate to appreciate these things.

If you're still in your wine cooler phase, well, that's your loss.

Men age like wine. Women age like milk. I understand why that bothers you, I do.

My post will probably get deleted, but most white males do not age like fine wine, they age like milk. Just keep your wallet full or keep your political power and you’ll be fine. I hardly think Green’s side piece was attracted to his body. You think she’d be with him if he were working at Home Depot?

Look, Hollywood picks older males and younger women for a reason. Mother nature has an expiration date for all women. It's just a fact. Don't be a hater.

My son just graduated HS in June and we must have gone to two dozen grad parties. Without question, every single one of the dads looked objectively better than the moms. Same with college drop off . The moms at drop off looked haggard af from carrying bags up a flight of steps! I'm 50, btw.

Yeah, you're 50, not 20, not 30. You're looking at these men through 50yo eyes. Unless a 40-50yo man has $ and a good job, explain the point in a 20/30yo woman being interested in him? If he can't provide for the 20-30yo, there's no point in that woman wasting her youth on the over 40yo guy.

Yes, yes, I'm sure all of the 40-50yo dads you encounter could be mistaken for Henry Cavill.

You should be right, but I'm living proof that in Washington, DC on the dating apps in 2024, it is very easy for a mid-40s man with a good job (not a millionaire) to regularity date ands sleep with 22-27yo women.

Would love to hear about your "good job."

The love and attention an older man will get from a younger woman even if fake is very different from the love and attention that an older woman will get from a younger man.

I am not saying that older women are not being swept of their feet by a younger man, but an older man will get some very special attention from a younger woman. And he won't care if she is ill intentioned. He is just enjoying the moment. Women know how to take care of men at any age more than men know how to take care of women.

Now please I know some women who have had young bloods sweep them off their feet will come here and recount how a younger guy took such good care of them. And good for them..I am just saying in general.

For older men it's a bad deal anyways because that's how they end up entangled with women who have a nefarious financial agenda.

Such a good faith invitation. Why wait? Just tell him he’s lying about his experience.

This is PP. I actually do think it's my Hinge photos (tall, full head of hair, lift weights and run on the weekends) and messaging banter that is most effective, but obviously you can't be a bum.

My job has lots of travel but otherwise WFH. Sounds cooler than it really is and I can tell stories about mixing with entertainment celebs. In the last five years I've earned $290K one year followed by $150K the next, and split the difference in the others.

That is nowhere close to enough to be a sugar daddy or for someone to be with me for the money. In the last five years I have dated lawyers, Cap Hill, Fed Agencies, etc. but also college students. (This followed a painful breakup with a woman my own age. I had dated younger before and after the breakup decided that's what I want to do for as long as I can).

10 pages debated the deepest philosophical conundrum of our age, and any age, really: Why do men like attractive women?

I don't think we'll ever get to the bottom of it! I can only hope that ChatGPT will achieve singularity and solve this external mystery.

Female dating coaches have begun telling their female clients to hang out at Home Depot to meet men.

Went to Home Depot today. Trust me, no one has been following this advice.

A few hot ladies were there, all with guys they came in with.

Is there any way out of this? Am I just not romantic or interesting enough?

Out of what? Which character are you in this drama?

Then why get married at all? If the only important thing to you/certain other men is a woman’s attractiveness, and we know that this fades over time, why make the choice to age with someone, ostensibly forsaking all others? Just date and don’t ruin people’s lives.

Because divorce is legal so there's a moral hazard. You can't offer a discount price in exchange for a lifetime commitment, next you can't enforce a lifetime commitment.
