What Trump said about Mexico not sending their best became true. Mexico ignores the cartel so long as they take care of business and send these migrants away from Mexico into the U.S. -many as drug mules for the cartel to bring drugs into the US. The jig is about to be up once Trump comes back in office. The border will be handled.

This is so xenophobic. I can’t believe Jeff has not deleted this disgusting thread.

These are human beings we are talking about.

I live in NYC. Believe me, these people are adding nothing. They have no capacity to earn a living to survive in a very expensive city. They have no business being here. FWIW I'm a registered Dem who will be voting for Harris. Trump is all bark and no bite.

Yay! Limousine liberal! How great! Funny how so many Guatemalans here in DC and around work all the time, in every single job. They seem to have a vast capacity. I just saw them working on a neighbor's house, and I took their number so they could help me fix my house. Oh, and that Pakistani restaurant in Arlington? Hispanics, and my El Salvador friend told me they are from Guatemala, BCS. You know she took the time to talk to the..... HELP! They are building every new construction in MoCo. They work at stores, and oh, no, for the Federal Government too! They are harder working than you, and willing to work. In the meantime, you are probably unemployed, and advocating for WFH.

Over 200,000 people have come to New York City over the past two years. We do not have the capacity to absorb all these people. No one can survive in NYC collecting cans out of the trash. As someone who was just in DC in the springtime, you do not have the same kind of migrant issues that we do. There’s just no comparison. In addition, I had my first job at seven years old and I’ve worked really hard all my life. I am fully employed and a valued employee at my job. Over the past couple of years, my employer has gradually reduced our WFH to twice a month so I’m in the office nearly every day of the month. I don’t mind going into the office at all. When my kids were younger, the foreign-born nannies of their peers would approach my mother and tell her how friendly I am, but thanks for playing, a-hole…

Did anyone tell you that you should just shut up?

Is that the best you got?!?! LOL

Yes, some people don't need anything more than to realize they are that stupid and racist, they need to shut up. Explaining to such people why they need to shut up is pointless.

I’m neither stupid, nor racist. Scholarship student at top private high school and college. 2 advanced degrees from Ivy AND DH is poc. Ad hominem attacks are not arguments btw. Maybe you’re the one who should shut up, since you don’t know what you are talking about and don’t have anything to contribute but weird, easily disproven personal attacks.

Still a racist. Just bcs you have some education does not make you not a racist. You are also still stupid.
Keep writing your word salads here.

You call people racist all day long every day because they don't agree with you. You're probably also the person who denigrates people in "flyover" country and who sneers at casseroles made with cream of mushroom soup. Your hyprocrisy is showing.

THEY DON’T SPEAK ENGLISH. Some don’t even speak Spanish. They speak a native dialect. Those who speak Spanish sometimes can’t even read or write in their own language. Their limited language skills don’t qualify them for much beyond manual labor.

You sure are not racist!

How is it racist for pointing out that these people do not speak English? The post asserts that we need these people to fill jobs, but they can't fill these jobs because they don't speak English.

Yet, what pp wrote is true.
Many of these migrants come and are illiterate in their home language. Especially the school aged migrants.
And, since English is actually the language of business, if someone cannot speak English, their options are very limited.

Migrants are actually wealthy in their home countries or already have a relative in the US. They need 10,000-15,000 usd minimum to cross the borders of Venezuela, Panama, Nicaragua, Mexico and that’s assuming they don’t get kidnapped by the cartels for more ransom.

It is actually sometimes cheaper if they wait years and years for a visa and pay for a legal flight to the US.

Some of them even fly from Haiti or China to Mexico City or somewhere in Latin America. The idea that migrants are poor is a myth. The poor don’t go anywhere as they can’t afford it. They stay put.

The poor apply for visas to legally immigrate to the US. In the years long backlog and wait time, they can work and save up money for when they’re finally called.

From what I understand, the US legal immigration system notoriously has the lowest priority for approving visas for Central Americans. Some think it’s because it’s to encourage illegal immigration and because the US/DEA likes or makes money with the human and drug smugglers/cartels. The illegals act as great drug mules to smuggle product into the USA.

The way US legal Immigration system works is it really values highly skilled workers first and war torn refugees second so mostly college educated folks overseas like professionals have a higher chance of coming here legally and then places that were war torn like Somalia or Afghanistan or Yemen.

Central America has no wars and not much compulsory educational systems at all in place for high school Or college so they’re last on the list for legal immigration

The majority do not speak English. They come here and are dependent on taxpayers to survive in the US.
It doesn't matter what their wealth is in their home country. The US taxpayers are picking up the tab for these people to remain in the US.

And, it is not sustainable. And, it will not improve with a Kamala Harris presidency. In fact, it will only get worse.

They will only make things worse. She has no plan for controlling illegal immigration.

Actually that is not true. She supports the bipartisan immigration reform bill that was agreed to last year but Trump exerted his influence so they didn’t have the votes on the R side because he wanted to campaign on the issue. That’s all pretty well documented.

What is not documented is Trump’s plan. What exactly would he do? What legislation would he support?

Kamala has stated she does not want illegal entry to be a crime. She wants illegal aliens to be covered by Medicaid. She is part of an administration that allowed millions into our country unvetted and has made little effort to deport those who commit violent crimes or nonviolent crimes. When Biden appointed her to oversee efforts to stem illegal migration, things got worse. And, her VP pick is no better. He made Minnesota a sanctuary state. He expressed the desire to provide ladders to migrants to climb over the wall.

The Senate bill would codify millions entering every year. That is not acceptable.

I am looking at what they have DONE.... not what has been said.

We know that during Trump's presidency, illegal immigration was a fraction of what it has been under Biden/Harris. He has said he wants to deport illegal migrants - something the majority of the voters want. There is no doubt that illegal immigration would be much better under Trump than Harris.

Rich old white men talk about money all they time.

I don’t care how NYC spends; all must be given dignified housing and medical care.

If NYC is spending too much, it is because some greedy people are making too much.

You may not care, but many other people do care. They are footing the bill.

It's not your right to take other people's private property and spend it how you want to.

Speaking English has nothing to do with being poor. If you’re dirt poor, you aren’t going to be able to migrate period. You can’t afford to hitchhike and backpack across Tijuana into the US if you don’t have any cold hard cash.

The immigrants look poor to you because they don’t speak English and don’t have bank accounts or educational degrees and such, but they come from cash economies. They make money off book so on paper to Americans it may seem like they look poor. Most Central Americans are skilled laborers and jacks of all trades because they come from cash economies. Some have cartel relatives who give them cash with directives to launder in the US and use. Some work and have money or relatives in the US who send them cash for the journey here.

Poor and migrant are oxymorons. Nobody can migrate if they’re truly poor. Even in the US, alot of Americans don’t have a passport or don’t travel because they don’t have the discretionary income to afford traveling. You have to figure that many migrants aren’t able to even get though the border once they’re there due to closure so all the money they spent to get there would go to waste and they’d have to return back or stay put until the border opens again. Many people try multiple attempts and each time it’s costly so this isn’t a venture for someone poor

I agree that the migrants are taking advantage of the liberal maternal hand syndrome and are exploiting the benefits given to them by the Biden administration. It’s become a cash bonanza and cash for no work so of course they’d pour into the country and tell other relatives on their free government IPhones about it. We even have Chinese people flying to Mexico to come in as migrants. Being a Migrant is now a retirement plan not a starting point to work. It has become a competitive enterprise all on its own so everyone’s flying in to Mexico to come here while they still can. They’re probably hoping for a Kamala administration and some will probably vote Kamala in if they have drivers licenses in their respective states

The PP isn’t taking anything from anyone. Taxes go to the government and not individuals. Government is given the power to tax by the constitution. It’s actually not your right to not pay those taxes. You have it completely backwards.

This is the dumbest thing I've read. These people borrow money to come here, find work, then send money back. The relatives they have here are also not wealthy. What source are you getting this info from?
