THEY DON’T SPEAK ENGLISH. Some don’t even speak Spanish. They speak a native dialect. Those who speak Spanish sometimes can’t even read or write in their own language. Their limited language skills don’t qualify them for much beyond manual labor.

You sure are not racist!

How is it racist for pointing out that these people do not speak English? The post asserts that we need these people to fill jobs, but they can't fill these jobs because they don't speak English.

Once again, shut the hell up.

Yet, what pp wrote is true.
Many of these migrants come and are illiterate in their home language. Especially the school aged migrants.
And, since English is actually the language of business, if someone cannot speak English, their options are very limited.

Migrants are actually wealthy in their home countries or already have a relative in the US. They need 10,000-15,000 usd minimum to cross the borders of Venezuela, Panama, Nicaragua, Mexico and that’s assuming they don’t get kidnapped by the cartels for more ransom.

It is actually sometimes cheaper if they wait years and years for a visa and pay for a legal flight to the US.

Some of them even fly from Haiti or China to Mexico City or somewhere in Latin America. The idea that migrants are poor is a myth. The poor don’t go anywhere as they can’t afford it. They stay put.

The majority do not speak English. They come here and are dependent on taxpayers to survive in the US.
It doesn't matter what their wealth is in their home country. The US taxpayers are picking up the tab for these people to remain in the US.

And, it is not sustainable. And, it will not improve with a Kamala Harris presidency. In fact, it will only get worse.

Speaking English has nothing to do with being poor. If you’re dirt poor, you aren’t going to be able to migrate period. You can’t afford to hitchhike and backpack across Tijuana into the US if you don’t have any cold hard cash.

The immigrants look poor to you because they don’t speak English and don’t have bank accounts or educational degrees and such, but they come from cash economies. They make money off book so on paper to Americans it may seem like they look poor. Most Central Americans are skilled laborers and jacks of all trades because they come from cash economies. Some have cartel relatives who give them cash with directives to launder in the US and use. Some work and have money or relatives in the US who send them cash for the journey here.

Poor and migrant are oxymorons. Nobody can migrate if they’re truly poor. Even in the US, alot of Americans don’t have a passport or don’t travel because they don’t have the discretionary income to afford traveling. You have to figure that many migrants aren’t able to even get though the border once they’re there due to closure so all the money they spent to get there would go to waste and they’d have to return back or stay put until the border opens again. Many people try multiple attempts and each time it’s costly so this isn’t a venture for someone poor

Speaking English is absolutely correlated with with migrant socioeconomic status . In the vast majority of places the wealthier someone is the more likely they are to speak English. This is true in all of Central/South American countries , East Asia, South East Asia Europe, Africa. The correlation between speaking English and wealth is very strong for almost every country where English is not the primary language.

Speaking English has nothing to do with financial status. You can have a first grade education and not know a lick of English in a third world country and make more money than an English speaking accountant if you know how to do odd jobs and manual/unskilled labor for cash. Technocrats and white collar professionals often are jobless or unwilling or unable to work 12 hours in the Sun for money. There’s no guarantee that college will lead to work because there’s a high unemployment rate and not much business investment or rate of return on technocrats. An illiterate farmer can make more money than a degreed scholar sometimes.

It isn't racist. PP is just throwing out the "r" word because you have made a relevant point and she is trying to shut down the debate.
Don't let her.

If you don't have expertise in immigration, you should just stop posting. Anecdotes and observations do not prove anything.

No. You and her are racists. That is a fact. You should also stop talking. If you had any self reflection, you would try to learn why you are a blatant racist.

I love how you're calling one side racist while defending the poster who - without a hint of irony- asks who is going to clean our toilets without immigrants. You're a racist too!

I’m not defending that pp. The level of hate you have is appalling.

You sound unhinged. Saying someone doesn't speak English int racist. But supporting someone who only lets in immigrants to clean their toilet or wipe someone's a** is. Racist !

Funny. I assumed it was a guy. IME It’s only men that are capable of that level of aggressive condescension.

We helped a Colombian illegal that approached my sister in an airport. The problem with getting him work is he knew "0" English. He had to use his google phone translate for literally all communication. He did okay in back kitchen cooking jobs.

To get ahead in the US you need to know English. Spanish and Creole will get you by, but to advance you need to know English.

NYC is planning on spending about 4.5 billion per year for the next 2 years Just on migrant housing!!!! This is not even for healthcare, education!

How can NYC afford this?

What’s the plan when they get another 100k migrants coming in the next few years.

I thought Kamala was going to fix the root causes?

She did. She was a border czar for 4 years and solved all our immigration problems.
