University of Richmond thoughts

OMG… This is it. I couldn’t put my finger on how to describe it before but this is perfect. It is pretty though.

Have you ever toured the campus? It’s striking. It feels like the Truman Show. Something is off.

The dorm room we saw was dark and depressing. The school doesn’t seem to have much spirit (sports events don’t seem to draw much attention). And our tour was so business focused.

We toured but my son didn’t apply. Not impressed.

You mean he didn't get in.

I did tour the campus and did not get that feeling. It was too small for my kid, otherwise, they liked it. Know several smart, well rounded kids who are very happy there. Also have an adult friend who loves their time there and is super close with many of her classmates three decades later.

I get that Richmond isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I still think it’s a good option for kids who can’t get into Bucknell. It’s a school where B and C students from top NE private schools can drink and party and study some business before going to NYC and working for Deloitte. There’s a market for that. For sure.

Because it attracts well-groomed kids who dress well?

It’s much more competitive to get into than Bucknell.

You won’t find two schools more alike than Richmond and Bucknell. Two peas in a pod. Richmond is the Bucknell of the South.

It’s still harder to get into than Bucknell from the DMV.

I agree with this assessment. Very similar, very pretty schools with a relatively shallow student cohort.

I agree. We toured a lot of schools. All of us like UR by far the least. Boring campus. Nothing going on. Buildings nothing special. Kids seemed preppy and entitled. Mediocre academic reputation. I would never send my kids here.

My daughter had the same reaction! What a waste of a trip. At least we got to see W&M, which was since. Richmond is a “niche” school for New Jersey lax bros and sorority girls.

As are UVA and W&M.

What? Niche school for New Jersey lax bros and sorority girls? That doesn't sound right.

I guess your kid didn’t get in. Sad. Can’t think why a grown adult would otherwise post the same exact untrue post twice.

Both have great Wall Street outcomes and starting/mid-career salaries. "Shallow" is subjective.
