Celebrities who can't act

I saw 2 of his dramatic movies, and wanted my money back.

I heard the one with Tea Leonie was decent, but I haven’t taken the time to watch it

+1. Sandler should have stuck with comedy, like Seinfeld did. I realize tastes differ, but I find Sandler's comedy annoying because it's always based around being a cute dufus and he outgrew cute a few decades ago. His dramatic acting, though, is on another level of bad.

Actually, the whole cast of Dawson’s Creek.

did you see him in Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23? He was pretty good in that one, playing a dramatized version of himself

But as Dawson? Terrible

most of them have actually gone on to very good careers

Michelle Williams has won numerous awards and been nominated several times for Oscars

Joshua Jackson has been a main character on several other series

My list:
- Emma Watson
- Orlando Bloom (this guy in particular has the Squint Stare and nothing else)
- Chris Hemsworth
- Emily Blunt
- Amber Heard

There are probably a few more but I can't think of anything right now. Bad actors, you tend to forget their names.

I hated her in Oppenheimer (loved the movie though) and the only benefit she brought was that she made Florence Pugh's character relevant. But then I did like her in A Quiet Place...

Did you see Mary Poppins? Hardly a b. Emily Blunt and Chris H can act. The rest of the list, not so much.

I’d add the Jessicas (Alba, Simpson (although not primarily an actress)) and Natalie Portman.

Oops, forgot Biel.

Did you watch The Sinner?

Award nominations for Oppenheimer. Was she bidgy in that?

YES

Watch season 2 of Big Little Lies. She was absolutely amazing, and I wouldn't say I was a huge fan before that.

Watch The Ref next Christmas (or now). He is perfect in that. I've also liked him in other things but that's probably my favorite movie of his.

I actually think that was 90% the fault of George Lucas. Because Natalie Portman is a good actress IMO but her Padme was horrible. Even a good chunk of Ewan McGregor’s scenes were weird. I think they all gave what George asked for.

Natalie Portman in Black Swan was great. I didn't like her in the Star Wars films but I hated almost everyone in them. Glad I'm not alone.

Julia Roberts is another one who appears to be herself onscreen. A lot of overexposed A list actresses are the same. Think: Jen Aniston.

Disagree with Jen Aniston. No matter what, I always enjoy her movies.

Go watch Cake, exceptional performance.

Yes, this was the one movie where she really played someone against type. She was also good in Dumplin.

Kieran Culkin. I found every scene he was in unwatchable.

Meryl and Julia are also unwatchable.

Nicholas Cage.

Watch her in Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers (series based on books by the same author, ironically).

Same! It seems like her on-screen persona is always about being the most beautiful, thinnest, and best-dressed in the room. Which she already is. You never see her playing a homeless woman. The worst was Big Little Lies, where all the other characters were constantly telling her how beautiful she is.

I feel like you missed the subtleties of her acting and her character in that show. Or maybe I just give her too much credit.
